Were you one of the ones saying 'don't trust anyone over 40'?
Younger people on the whole are much more educated, more informed and most importantly, have a greater stake in the future of this country than older voters. I don't think you can minimize the younger generations' passion and interest in this election.

No, that's not the problem. Think.

Both are wars. Wars cost money. Reasons for a war do not make it more expensive or less expensive.

That's the point I believe the poster was making.

Got it?

Why is that a bad thing?
I guess you think it's a bad thing for kids to learn about the political process and get involved?

Sure both are wars, I don't believe both were justified.

The point is when the war's not justified the cost is a waste of blood and $$$.

My dad is 71 and a lifelong Republican... and he's supporting Obama. He feels the GOP has splintered and the last 4 yrs of the Bush Administration was the worst of any Presidency he's ever seen in his lifetime. He's lost significant retirement gains in the last 2 years, and inflation costs on food, gas and day to day essentials has really hurt my parents retirement income so much, my mother went back to work at 68 part time..

My dad could be summed up in this recent quote from the Christian Science Monitor

Quote:
My dad voted for George H.W. Bush twice, and his son once. He was disappointed when Bill Clinton won, and disappointed he couldn't run again.

He is neither young nor an idiot. Believing that people are idiots because they are unhappy with the current administration and feel our country needs a change doesn't help your cause. This is why the GOP is losing this election.

And the gap between Obama and McCain narrows at about age 25, after they get into the real world and realize blind idealism means squat there.
Their huge similarity is that they both want the US to be out of Iraq.
Considering that the war is being fought largely by people under 30, I think it's an important issue to them.

the point is clear that obama would indeed be escalating our involvement in the mideast if you take him at his word. since obama voted to fund the war and backed off of his withdrawal timetable, his mideast war position is inconsistent at best.

You do know that the US has Muslim countries that are out allies right? You do know that only a very very small percentage of the Muslims in the world are terrorist right? Like maybe only 1%. Most are regular god fearing people who understand that Islam is about peace, not about war or killing. Its that very very small number who are influenced by factors other than their religion that makes them terrorist.

You might want to read up on this a bit before posting again. We have many allies in the middle east that have many arabic and islamic muslims - Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, etc. Even the people of Iran are friendly towards the US. Its only those few that follow the words of the Supreme Ayatollah that are anti US.

I'm 40 and I voted for Obama. And where did you get the tax info? Because you're wrong. Every tax comparison chart shows someone earning $42K to have their taxes lowered around $100 with McCain, over a thousand w/Obama.

Maybe if the Republicans stopped bashing gays to bait the religious right into voting for them, they'd get the youth vote.
