Russia could no longer sponsor the union republics and... collapsed
I think it was more complex. Perhaps that decision was wrong. But we can't change it now after so many years.

In a short term perspective a well-known politician will pump up his popularity, but what's next? I hope that people in the peninsula won't be dissatisfied. But the other people will see it as an act of aggression.

Why I can't lean for 1954 if Russia "lost" the Crimea in 1954?
It was as a part of Ukraine since 1954.
Therefore all achievements of that time concern Ukraine in the most part.

And apropos "sponsorship" of Russia - by 101 times I ask a question to you: where part of Ukraine from property of the USSR? By 101 times I will remind it 16.8% of 400 billion dollars.
Recently Russia showed part of a debt of Ukraine in the USSR - 20 billion dollars.
We agree. Take away it from our share of property in the USSR and give a difference (more than 40 billion dollars).

Where our money, sponsor's Russia?

We're not talking about Russia. We're talking about the debt Russia to Ukraine.

Well. Let Russia take away the Crimea and the southeast (hypothetically).
But how to be with this card then? )

Well, they should legalize a part of it or something like that. They took land without legalizing.

Failed! Why they haven't come for some legal conslusion for so many years?

What can be expected? All the 'poisons' that have layed low now will rise to the surface. We will see how the Tatars react.

But why the previous government failed to settle the land disputes? They had twenty years for that.

Perhaps we should not start that gamble. But still... Why? For so many years.
