With this new development, things are about to get interesting real quick, for who will depend on the outcome of what or who brought the plane down.
"A Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur with 295 people aboard crashed Thursday in Ukraine near the Russian border after reportedly being hit by a missile, according to an adviser to Ukraine's interior ministry.Anton Gerashenko, the adviser, says on his Facebook page the plane was flying at an altitude of 33,000 feet when it was hit Thursday by a missile fired from a BUK launcher, the Associated Press reports.
A similar launcher was seen by AP journalists near the eastern Ukrainian town of Snizhne earlier Thursday."
From what I read in comments on rebel's site - "БУК" -(BUK launcher) is something that Ukrainian forces had in the area. (Looks like they've recently moved it there.)

Actually "pro-Russians" come across as far more savvy, knowledgeable and organized in military actions comparably to what's known as "Ukrainian army."

All planes brought down until now were brought done by hand held/portable AA systems, and the planes flying at low altitudes. That is vastly different than having an advanced AA system bringing a plane down from 33,000 feet.
