I have used peppers or celery (depends on the mood and what we have on hand), stewed tomatoes, tomato soup, cooked shells or cooked elbows. When all mixed I bury chunks of velveeta, top with bread crumbs and dors of butter and bake.

Isn't it interesting that we all make that as a comfort food yet we all make it different yet get the very same result......delicious!

Oh, growing up in the Plains States, we called this 'goulash' and we had it often, as the dear parents were at that time low echelon civil service employees.

Thank you, what a great memory this evoked

~~~~~~~~~~
After I posted, I went back to read and saw that it's well known as goulash This is what happens when someone tries to catch up on 3 or 4 pages of comments, I guess.
PS....I woke up to SNOW here in the PNW...I thought we were finished with it for the year, but Nooooo....
We'll get about three inches, looks like, then wind, rain and freezing stuff. It's supposed to get really nasty down by the Columbia River Gorge. The flakes are Huge, even as I write this...
I think I'll be able to just stay put...which would be great, as I'm still writing responses to letters from Holy Nativity...Yep, runnin' behind as usual.
I'm making the marlboro man sandwich from The Pioneer Woman blog and her apple dumplings. High fat city but oh so good.
I made the dumplings recently. I don't think it's really her recipe, it's all over the internet. I found that out because I was googling for an apple recipe I could make with canned rolls. Anyway, I didn't have any soda (she calls for mountain dew) and I found many recipes that were the same as hers except they call for Sprite.
I substituted Perrier mixed with apple sauce for the Mountain Dew/Sprite and they turned out amazingly well! I still have leftover Perrier in the house from my mom's visit at the holidays. I don't care for the stuff.
Yeah, in her comments there was someone who said they made the same dumplings but with Sprite. I also bought stuff for chicken spaghetti and the brisket recipes. I'll be making those within the next 7 days. I'm sure she didn't write any of those recipes herself but I still love her blog.
Congratulations to LaceyEx on her 4th gold star!
I'm still planning tonight's dinner. I'm wanting some beef, but grilled cheese sounds good too.
