Yes, I was supposed to be in Miami. Something comes up at work.
Now I am with all of you!
I will be hunkering down in my place tomorrow, while teleconferencing with the vendors in China.
My building is not gated.
But at Rittenhouse Square, there are bunch of port a potty. Then I realized that Barnes and Nobles (or at least the bathrooms), as well as establishments in vicinity (or their bathrooms) will probably close.

And for a foot note, the bracket for that new City Hall gate has been painted.
I cannot stop admiring it. In fact I am so proud of it. It looks complete and magnificent now.
If only they planned to finish the other threes before the Pope comes.
Note about the City Hall gate. I learned from a reliable source that the city has had it for years in storage.

Just got back from a walk to Superfresh on South Street. Superfresh was nearly out of milk, creamer and eggs, and oddly enough, shredded cheese. Crowds were typical of any Friday afternoon.

The city is quieter than I think I've ever seen it, however:

(my pic)

There are soldiers on every corner along with a barricade along Lombard Street with parked emergency vehicles and personnel taking up empty lanes. Kind of feel like it would make a good setting for The Leftovers.

Heading out to dinner tonight and will be interested to see what else is up. Cheers

I walked arch street from second to 8th and probably saw 40 solders, 4 counter terrorism teams and about 30 cops.

Crazy.

I went for a walk this morning around the Fairmount area and there were a pair of soldiers at the end of every single street I walked by.

There's something magical when the city is shut down, even if it's because of a nor'easter.

I'm starting to wonder when, if ever, this massive influx of people is going to happen. Sounds like the restaurants downtown are hurting for customers and I-95 is traffic-free.

Rather ironic, considering that in the 19th century the major source for cast iron for the south was Philadelphia, which was responsible, I'm told, for much of that historic ironwork in New Orleans.

Well...the new gates are stainless steel + aluminum, not cast iron
