The ONLY reason he changed his tune about this is because of the upcoming election.

The devil is in the details. Like I said before, wonder who will be paying for this. I am guessing the churches will hold comment on this until they find out more.

I don't know how you can't say it was anything but a miscalculation though. He had to change his policy. If it was a well thought out policy to begin with, he would not have to change it.

Right, because the ones wailing about this were going to vote for Obama anyway...

It was handled badly and generated a lot of needless flak. It may yet continue to do that to some extent, after all, the GOP needs to have some talking points, since they don't have any ideas. Plus you got the RW nut jobs that would attack Obama if he announced the definitive cure for Cancer.

Why doesn't the government stay out of the whole business?

That's your opinion. For a lot of people, it had more to do with government overreach. I could care less about the Catholic Church and have no issues with contraception at all. I did have an issue with the government telling a religious instiution to go against their doctrine as I felt it was a violation of the First Amendment.

As an aside, just heard Sebilius talking about some more details on this adjusted regulation. No religious organization will have to pay for it even in their insurance policies. People that want it if it is not offered through their plan will be able to still go independently to an insurance company to get it for free. She is of the belief that everyone else paying for this will make it a break even for the insurance companies. I suspect the insurance companies will use that as an excuse to raise rates again.

I must have missed where he met with Congress and hashed out this "compromose".

Please provide details.

I think there will be more to have fun arguing about down the road.
