How so? Employees at religious-affiliated hospitals and universities will be able to get guaranteed contraceptive coverage. This wasn't previously the case. The difference as of today's change is that the church-based employer won't be required to offer the coverage, it will be handled directly between the insurer and the insured.

This is not completely what many of the opponents wanted. In fact, some are still grumbling about it. The Catholic Church in particular is acting like they are miffed that their employees will be able to get contraceptives, as if that's the issue, not who is providing the coverage for them.

I don't think the average person who supported this to begin with was doing so out of a desire to make churches pay for something contrary to church teachings; the bottom-line issue was coverage for contraception for all women, even those working at church-affiliated places of employment. That goal has been maintained.

Folks, 98% of American Catholic women have used birth control. Most Catholic employers offer birth control. This isn't controversial.

We dont have health care for the "health of the nation". We have health care for the health of PEOPLE. Birth control is NOT friggin health related. No way in hell should it be covered. You want birth control the go friggin buy it! Put aside that money you spend on gossip magazines, Big Macs, cable television and buy your own damn birth control. This is so stupid.

This whole debate shouldnt even be happening because insurance should not cover birth control. PERIOD. But hey, lets not bring common sense into anything here. After all, we need more more more crap for free. God forbid you have to take care of yourself sometimes and pull money from your own pocket for the decisions you make.

I have some assistance from an employer, but it was cheaper for us to get coverage for my wife independently than to add her to my coverage.

YES........... The Women in Ireland SUDDENLY came down with many of these ilnesses in the sixties when the birth pill was introcuced....... it was like a plague from GOD.......... lmao.......... ooops NO it was a excuse that the women had to use to stop being a baby factory.
We have been there done that one.
Pity the Catholic church far prefers women having to lie ( and the church knows that they do that to get contraception) than be honest and be in control of their own bodies and whether or not to have children.

You can choose to work elsewhere with an organization who provides the insurance coverage which aligns more with you liking. Or, you can choose to pay out of pocket for that which is not included in the coverage offering, including purchasing your own insurance. People do it all the time. And here I thought Progressives pretended to be "pro-choice".

Clearly Obama is using the HHS to regulate the 1st Amendment where Constitutionally it is forbidden for Congress to make a law.

The Cath Bishops have not yet said they agree or if they want to continue their subjugation of women.

There are many women in the USA who CANNOT afford contraception.
They CANNOT afford to get contraception so guess what.........
If you are wealthy or in a good position you can control your pregnancies but if you are poor or less well off............ TOUGH!.... This seems to be the new American way... or so the right believe........... bottom line.... You get freedom of choice if you have money......

Anyone who is employed can afford contraception through their county health department. Anyone who is truly "poor" can get contraception or sterilization through Medicaid and their county health department.

Guess what, it costs nothing financially for a woman to learn her fertility cycle (local library has reference resources) and to keep her legs closed. Is the woman's sexual partner also to poor to get a condom? Really?

Your arguement is not just weak it is false and intellectually dishonest.

These women are employed. They can probably figure out how to pay for it, have their partner provide it, or go to one of the many free clinics and have it handed to them. Why do you acts as though this is the only way people can have access to contraception? People have pointed out how many Catholics use contraception or think it's okay. They have managed all this time without having the church have to provide it.
