I would give the companies the freedom to run their business any way they see fit, while you want the government involved, so it turns out you are the authoritarian, as are most Trump loyalists.
People who bend over backwards to defend everything Trump says always end up looking foolish.
LOL, no, YOU want the government involved. You want them to be able to censor their users and push ideology on them while enjoying protection by the government. I'm merely suggesting they lose that protection for their crimes against the principles free speech.
Basically, you are clueless. Companies are not going to pay the money time and infrastructure investment to host the equivalent of an unmoderated 4chan, s**tposting platform. There is nothing in it for them. This change will destroy user generated content across the board.
YouTube - gone
Twitter - gone
Facebook - gone
City data - gone
Reddit - gone
Etc etc etc
This will not end well for the person who kicks it off.
Yep this bobbythegreat always thinks he's so brilliant with his posts and you just walked a circle around him..
This whole thread of Trump supporters proves they'll defend him no matter what..
Only those that wished to act as a publisher by censoring content and editorializing. Those companies that wished to act as merely a platform would be unaffected and would thrive.
It would only "decimate" content for companies that wish to be publishers.
Again, no one is forced to "submit" their material to these publishers. I have had published material that I freely submitted that was edited by the publishers.
Trump cried to his daddy and now cries to the courts after daddy died.
Or......now hear me out, they'd simply have to change their ways and stop being so censorious and stop pushing an ideology.
Turning them into sh*tposting forums. They would rather shut the service down, it would be less damaging to their brand.

Maybe you can have some kind of government "ministry of truth" to make the decisions for these companies. Mmm nothing like some good old fashioned fascism

I am fine with companies continuing to have their first amendment rights to free speech on the platforms that they own and pay for regardless of ideology.

From what I can tell, Trump fans are all about getting rid of government regulations, environmental protections, financial oversight, ...
So now they want government to regulate the internet?

Twitter is not the government, trump is. trump is the one who wants to censor what we see, not twitter. twitter posted trump's tweets. Why is trump crying?

Nope. Sorry if my point flew over your hard.
I said I want the corporations (not the government) to have the freedom to moderate their platforms as they see fit. You are demanding the government use regulations to make it impossible for them to do that. I want to keep the government out of it, and you want them involved.
There are unmoderated forums. Why don't you go there and see what they look like. Porn, personal attacks, harassment, racism, promotion of Nazism, foul language.....all the stuff you want. Who is forcing you to stay at moderated forums? No one.

They shouldn't have done this during an election year. Now they have to face the wrath of Trump. If Twitter decides to fact check everything they should've started it from the get go. It's too late for that, like Mark Zuckerberg said recently if they get into the business of deciding who's speech needs to be fact checked the platform will be dead.

I never said anyone was forced to do anything, I'm just suggesting that we treat publishers as publishers while treating platforms as platforms.
It's up to them which of those they want to be.

That's effectively what you are in favor of, only you want it to be a privately owned "ministry of truth" because right now they are censoring those you don't agree with and pushing ideology you agree with. If it was different, your take would be different. People like you are always against free speech when it is the speech of those you don't agree with, but you change your tune the second the censors you built up turn on you.
