Nice try. Four of the five Taliban members released from Guantanamo Bay by the Obama administration in 2014 in exchange for admitted US Army deserter Bowe Bergdahl are part of the Islamic fundamentalist group’s new hardline government in Afghanistan.
Biden could have changed the date or the deal. He changed pretty much everything else Trump did, no excuses, stop blaming Trump. This is Biden's mess and you know it.
Exactly... Biden overturned most of what Trump set in place immediately when he got into office via way of executive orders. Yet, somehow he is unable to change the date? No... he could have changed the date, but he didn't want to change the date because if it didn't work out he could lay blame on someone else.

Sure if only they kept the date at May 1 or delayed it would have been a happy ending. No one would have stormed the airport during the pull out and the government would have never dissolved.
It's not about the date the anymore than on a ship when you see the captain taking the last life boat, panic sets in.
I disagree, the US kept that country relatively stable and free for the past 20 years, so much so that thousands of Americans, foreigners, and embassies willingly resided there.
The problem was the Taliban and other extremists organizations being funded by Pakistan. They were never going to go away. Ever.
Helping the Taliban defeat the Soviets was one of the worsts military mistakes America has ever made. They were far too powerful after that.
When you can't turn your back on their military without worrying about green-on-blue attacks, you are not on friendly terms.
Inasmuch as it cause US forces to disengage from combined activities with the Afghan military, it certainly was an issue.

The Ft. Hood shooter was an American Muslim military officer, should we ban all American Muslims from serving too?
If it got to the point that Muslims were considered such a likely threat that they could not be integrated into normal military activities--as happened with the Afghan military--then, yes.

That's not the point. But since you like analogies, I'll give you one.
You can no more blame a shipbuilder for a captain hitting an iceburg than you can blame Trump for Biden's botched exit. A ship builder just provides the framework. He doesn't tell you where to navigate to.
So, 19 years later, Trump signed a deal handing control of Afghanistan over to a terrorist group.
The United States spent all of these years over there supporting the people and the government of Afghanistan – preventing the country from being taken over by terrorist groups. Instead of negotiating the withdrawal with the government of Afghanistan, Trump and Pompeo signed an "easy" deal that gave control of the country to said terrorists early in 2020.
There wasn’t much that the Biden administration could do with Trump's deal. What would have been the end result if the new administration attempted to throw out Trump's deal with the Taliban and re-negotiate a new deal with the government of Afghanistan?
No matter how you try to spin it, history will show that Trump and Pompeo are responsible for any far reaching consequences related to the withdrawal – both now and in the future.
Trump’s Bad Deal with the Taliban Under peace envoy Zalmay Khalilzad, the administration seems poised to give away everything America has fought for in Afghanistan since 9/11.

Biden had not yet crippled the Afghan military in May, so yeah, we could have had a peaceful evacuation.
