Drone attacks have been killing Afghan civilians for 20 years.
Claiming to be upset about it now is just political posturing.
Yes Biden being humiliated on the world stage so to show he’s a tough guy he orders to drone 10 civilians, 7 of which were children. This is perfectly fine and normal.
First off, thank you for your service. But I don't believe this is the exact same situation as Vietnam but I can see why you would think that it is. Botched leadership looks like botched leadership even if the intent was not the same.
I can say from experience (I have more skin in the game than you realize) that the goal was not to mold Afghanistan into our image of democracy. The goal was to stop terrorists from controlling a country, where people actually live in fear of death for something as simple as stealing a piece of food so that they can eat that day. The secondary goal was to get the Afghan people on their feet so that they could run their own country. They are so beaten down that it obviously didn't work. We play by certain rules that the Taliban do not recognize.
What if we needed to go in against North Korea? While their tyranny is much more organized, those people fear for their lives daily and live in extreme poverty while their dictator lives the lap of luxury. If the time ever came where they posed a threat to us, would you oppose going in?
They were similar in that we never won over the general population and in this case that includes the Taliban and their tribes, doubtful that was ever a remote possibility. We also put in rotten and corrupt leadership more so in Vietnam, and the military lied to us in both instances about the success of our actions.
Worrying about civilians dying this year after 20 years of civilian deaths, obviously political.
Not political, just plain greed and corruption. It is now finally being revealed to us that the military has been lying to us for 20 years and none of the deaths were necessary. Heads need to roll from the top leadership, those at the top who profited from prolonging the war and lying.
Due to the incompetence of pedo Joe Biden, the truth has been exposed and hopefully the domino's will soon begin to fall.
