Sounds like it will be wonderful. Can I come to dinner?

One of my favorite fish is Sand Dabs, and they are not available here. I found the online out of California, at $19.99 lb., which is quite reasonable, especially compared to my other favorite, Copper River Salmon which was $32/lb. this year. I was going to order a few pounds but then saw the shipping charge: $49. That comes out to a total of $68.99 for one pound. I'll just continue using Rex Sole instead I guess.

We've been substituting dover sole from Trader Joes for our sand dab needs. It's pretty similar and actually available.

We get those too, at Costco, but the Rex Sole is closer, with the same "fry both sides and lift off the backbone." We have to get them at a specialty Asian Market here called Uwajimaya.

Sand Dabs, really? How do they taste? I used to use them for bait, Ling Cod love them.
I did have some rock sole as by-catch of my last halibut fishing effort and they were pretty tasty, have to cook them fast and "handle" minimally so it doesn't flake apart.

I try to get local fresh fish ...flounder or crab cakes and those have not gone up much.
But last week I got some fresh cod and it had gone up $2/lb..from $6.99 to $8.99. I got it anyway because I like cod.

Went to the local Kroger today. I buy salmon about once a week and it was still $8-$9 per pound. I was expected much worse.

I bought frozen cod for $5.99 /lb,the supermarket has fresh fish flown from Fulton Market every day,if it does not sell that day, they will freeze it,if fresh then it is 7.99/lb.
But I am confused, there is another supermarket which sell cod,cut them up with skin in rather thick chunk,it tastes different, the texture is much refined and taste better too,are these different types of cod fish?,
