There is a reason you do not see Disney execs cheering right now. The district will be replaced and Disney will be paying as much or more than they were before, they just won't be calling the shots on how the money is spent.
There's really no need for you and others to keep repeating your claims. It's a done deal. The legislature passed it and the governor signed it. Let's just see how it plays out.
Sounds like Orange County can tax Disney to pay the debt. Let's include this in the discussion unlike the original post.
That was according to a republican state senator that voted for the bill and of course you left out the rest of that article. MTSU's are going to pick up the burden of DIsney's debt, do tell how that works because it's totally lacking in explanation. Where exactly are these MTSU's going to get the funding to cover the debt and why wasn't this addressed in the bill.
Quote:
Fine acknowledges that the local entities where Reedy Creek lies will pick up the Reedy Creek's debt once the district is dissolved, but says those local governments can create Municipal Service Taxing Units (MSTU) that would also "pick up the revenue that would be going to pay for the debt." He insists that "There's no impact to taxpayers."
Randolph argues that according to Florida statute, the local governments cannot impose MSTUs on Reedy Creek because it is an independent tax district. Therefore, he says, when that incorporated municipality dissolves, Disney would have no obligation to pay the $163 million each year.
Since when did the left make such a big stink of stopping special status for huge corporations? When they decided they didn’t like parents telling them to leave their kids alone.
No problem taking away preferential treatment for corporations if done for the right reason. This was a vindictive retaliation by the governor purely because of politics, nothing to do with taxing corporations.

When RCID dissolves it will no longer be an independent tax district and the MSTU can be imposed.
The $578 million tax break deal is for Disney relocating 2000 workers to Florida. These are separate issues and it has nothing to do with Reedy Creek. Since your article is behind a pay wall I was unable to read the entire thing but based on the initial paragraph that they were gracious enough to allow me to read it appears to be completely separate. I’m not sure why we need yet another thread on Disney/Florida. The obsession is real.

The only way this happens is if deep blue Orange County wants a mega multinational business to get special rules and unique tax breaks.
That wasn't mentioned in the bill, the two counties were left in the dark if that is supposed to be a solution.
All according to one GOP senator after the fact.
Your quote said that a MSTU couldn't be imposed because RCID is an independent tax district. That's the current state. This bill changes that therefore the alleged reasons why an MSTU cannot be currently imposed will not apply when RCID is dissolved.
This disgusting tweet about a president’s wife was while he was serving as the Orange County tax collector, a position he gained because his predecessor died just prior to the election (OC tax collector position).
The party of "small government" strikes yet again!
And, the party of “corporations need to pay their fair share” are screeching at just that happening, too!
