There's a lot of things people in this thread are ignoring about the OP.
He could be a supplier for online porn boards. Who knows how many sites the video got uploaded to? Nobody makes tapes for personal reasons (yeah, some weirdos actually do too). Well, is that something you show for the future kiddos on your 25th marriage anniversary?

That was actually the first thought that occurred to me when I was reading the OP. I think making a sex tape is pretty stupid (from a woman's point of view) but hey, perhaps I don't know everything, after all. Nevertheless, because a sex tape is much more likely to be used to humiliate the woman rather than the man, good taste dictates that it should be returned to her after the breakup -- whether or not she formally asks for it. I think the OP's girlfriend acted badly by snooping in any event, but I also allow for the possibility that she's is freaking out not so much because of the content of the tape itself, but the fact that this guy held on to a sex tape of his ex, who, he says, means nothing to him.

Actually Redisca, I hadn't been "holding on" to the tape, at least not in the way you (and the gf) seem to think/imply. As I stated in my OP, that hard drive was in a box of other computer parts in my old room at my parent's house. I left it there at the time as an "out of site out of mind" I guess and hadn't really thought of it since. I only picked it up the week before when my dad said that anything I didn't come pick up he would donate or use for himself.
And as for the sex tape itself, my ex actually had a copy I gave her at the time we made it and presumably still does unless she also deleted it. I have no plans for a future in politics or anything so I don't think about what or where it may be (there may still be hope for you antlered!).

I don't quite follow you pitt, I gave a copy to my ex, the person who was in the video with me, she had a copy, I had one. Mine is now erased, using Secure Erase on the whole drive, as for my ex, she is free to do with it as she pleases as she is an equal partner in it.
