Here are places where I think you can look for quality guys:
*Join activity groups up here (or in San DIego proper) (hiking, kayaking etc.)
*Be active in a church here and its activities. (I know a young lady who is dating some guy she met at Saddleback.)
*Network up here with people with whom who've spent time with and let word out you are interested in dating. Trust me, there are eligible bachelors here (some might be slightly awkward computer types but who are nice successful guys) who are lonely who would like to find a nice lady. And most will enjoy visiting beautiful Carlsbad especially if they from Irvine.
*Join a dating site and search OC and San Diego

I always thought the dating scene in SD was pretty decent. I see tons of hot girls all over the place. I feel the dating scene is much better in SD than it is in the bay area or LA. LA has plenty of gorgeous women but they tend to be more about how much money you have and what you can offer them. On the positive side, LA is a big enough city where I think you can find just about anything you're into despite what I just said about it. SF has a lot of women but it attracts the tech type or the liberal type which just isn't my style. SF is a city of 5's and 6's IMO. I definitely go for the girls who are very stylish and care about their looks which I feel SD has plenty of. Not the fake boobs, fake blonde look but nonetheless the trendy fashion oriented types.
I can't speak for other parts of the country as I've only lived in California.
In most cases for younger people (<30 yrs old), if you are good looking and a normal person, dating isn't that hard no matter where you are. As messed up as that is, it's pretty much the truth.
No offense, but it is obvious that you haven't traveled outside of CA. Better yet, you haven't interacted with various people from all over the world. This is a stereotypical example of how people, who lived their entire lives in one place. People from everywhere MUST GO outside of their comfort zone in order to understand by what goes on today's global society. This is a great way for anybody to gain WISDOM!

Probably to your surprise I actually spent 2 years living abroad, traveling around the world as well as studying abroad in Italy when I was in college. I have also visited many parts of the US. I haven't lived in other cities in the US that aren't in CA but this threads original topic was about a bad dating scene in SD. I have lived in the 3 major cities in CA (SF, LA, SD). I disagreed with the op's statement and voiced it. Everyone tastes in the opposite sex are different and I stated mine in my previous post. Does that mean those types of women don't exist in other parts of the country, of course not, but I find that many of them reside in Southern California with SD one of the locations. I don't even really see how your post in reference to mine has really much to do with what I said.

Since you didn't clarify about your personal experience from traveling around the world. You somehow stated that you lived in CA for your entire life. As well you didn't know any cultural interactions with other people.
Wait, I assume you are implying that San Diego girls don't dress as well as east coast girls. Are you also saying all women who aren't on the East Coast do not dress well, have no style? I cannot agree with that if that is what you are saying. I see tons of women in OC who dress very nicely thank you very much. And they do it with their own style and often in quite expensive clothes. How about looking up here?
Sorry, but you didn't fully understood by what elchevere specifically texted on this CD thread. elchevere stated how the EC women, who are mostly professionals to be very ambitious & intelligent about themselves. How they worked really hard to move up the ladder in society; therefore, they don't have hang-ups about their confidence in life. They know how to dress very charmingly & elegantly as part of their true character not to be flawed. As well, they feel comfortable to discuss on intellectual subjects such as architectural, cultural, economical, industrial, & political. This is what I'm trying to text here about the EC vs. WC dating scene.
Again, elchevere provided a constructive analysis by how the WC women in SoCal are mostly insecure & shallow about themselves. Many of them go by their looks & dress to impress as part of their artificial character. They don't seem to have some sort of depth into their intelligence & logic around them about other people & life. Unfortunately, they seem to have this me, me, & me philosophy. They don't like to engage into intellectual thoughts about the world that we live to be inappropriate. This is where I totally understand about elchevere's stance on this matter.
A man like elchevere, who is disappointed about how most of the WC women in SoCal view this way.

There are tons of beautiful women all over the country, if you have problems anywhere its not because there is a half percentage point more or less wherever you are. Most of us are too young to be affected by those demographics anyway. Unless you are REALLY unnattractive either emotionally or physically its not that hard to find a partner, have you been to walmart lately? lol
but if you have been to the airport lately you know the people are a lot more attractive on the west coast, especially the women ...

Maybe the dating scene is terrible for you as a single woman to live & work in the EC. But not me; since, I'm a single professional male, who happens to live & work in NYC. Sorry, but I TRULY LOVE the dating scene here b/c I'm able to meet women in various professional fields to be very unique. They have a lot of depth & wisdom in their character. Which I like. Yes, they too ask me about my profession & have I traveled across the globe to seek culture & wisdom.
Mind you that I too travel in my profession around the world. As well, I'm able to interact with professional women abroad. Yes I experienced & encountered intimate relationships with them. What a cultural experience!
Sorry again, but I don't look for women at Wal-Mart. Negative, but you can find attractive women at any airport throughout the globe. I have been to almost all of them b/c of my profession & leisure.
Have you read my prior comments on this CD thread? Why most Italian professional women leave the Southern & Island regions? They decide to settle in Italian cities like Milan (the economic capital) or Rome (the political capital) b/c both cities provide career field opportunities for them.
Why am I mad about the WC women not to find me interesting? Been through that flaky game & I could careless. If they don't have an interest in me. The WC women want to find something different than me? Maybe I don't put up with their BS. Better yet, you're probably correct that I don't live up to their expectations to be a logical gentleman. Physical attractive women to seek physical attractive men? Well duh! It is part of the game to search for the right one, with that & brains too. LOL! Most surfers can find a date, if I have not noticed? Okay, different strokes for different folks. You don't think that the male surfers are not dumb to analyze which babe is a gold digger or not.

Yes..I was referring to most SD ladies, not all nor all of SoCal. True OC has closer to what I look for--this should not be a surprise since there are more and better paying jobs in OC than SD (and ditto for LA); thus, a greater likelihood of finding more professional women, who are more likely to have what I am looking for--style and class, are cool to hang out with, and have their own direction in life/independent. Some/few non professionals may have some of these traits but MY personal preference is for a career oriented individual with these criteria . They are more plentiful elsewhere from my experience that includes having lived in NY, Atlanta, SF, OC and through extensive travels. As I also mentioned in my earlier thread--what I am seeking is not limited to the East Coast (i.e. I love Chicago, not part of the East Coast, and always find what I'm looking for in that city)--easier to find the type of women stated above in these places and these women are also seeking their professional and/or accomplished counterparts--not some guy walking into a high class resto with flip flops and an Ed Hardy t-shirt with little or no aspirations.
Where I will take a little exception to one of your generalizations is regarding the expensive clothes. Just because one buys expensive outfits does not automatically infer style or class. I recall seeing many, not all, OC women ( from my 17 years living there) wearing expensive CFM outfits that made them look high priced escorts from Vegas--and these were worn outside night clubs and I'm no prude....to me a sexual turn on has not only involved physical attractiveness, but finding a lady who is as or more successful (preferably earned, not inherited) than me and is refined and has class....Maybe I'm living in the days of Leave it to Beaver but my success in finding this type in other states outside CA, as well as a few European ladies I have dated, suggests my mindset is not outdated.
Finally, the issue isn't just looks...a woman needs something inside...if it were just looks, I'd line up to date Nordstrom's front window mannequins--at least nothing stupid comes out of their mouths.
