Default Safeway: Broadway and Pleasant Valley EIR draft

Looks like the Draft EIR is ready for the other Safeway revamp in North Oakland.

The City of Oakland has prepared a Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the proposed Safeway Redevelopment Project located at Broadway and Pleasant Valley Avenue. The City Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing on the Draft EIR and the project on February 20, 2013. No decision will be made on the project at the hearing. Comments may be made at the February 20th hearing or in writing. Written comments should be received no later than 4:00 p.m. on February 25, 2013. After all comments are received a Final EIR will be prepared and the Planning Commission will consider certification of the Final EIR and render a decision on the project at a later meeting date to be scheduled.

Has anyone been to Costplus recently at Jack London? I get the feeling they are going to close the store. I was there in November and December and it looks like they are not replacing inventory and they are removing shelves and spreading the remaining things out. This would be a pity as their headquarters are in Oakland.

That isn't a great spot. Stores of that type seem to do better when they are clumped together. I wouldn't mind if they moved to the old Barnes spot though.

To have Children's Hospital be affliated with UCSF is major. If I recall correctly UCSF is very interested because CHO has the only children's trauma center in NorCal.
