It's not my fault I wasn't notified May 18th through 27th like everyone else was. If so I would have had my 13 weeks added on and been able to claim up til the last week before I worked. I just would have stopped claiming at that time. And I told her I don't have any earnings to establish a new UI claim in a new base period.. which I don't. A few hundred dollars a week for 3 weeks isn't getting me a new claim. I figured if I said yes i would be right back to square one. file a new claim get denied and then sitting for someone to review it for the extension which makes no sense

My question is if the 13 weeks do get added on.(which I have both expired benefit year exp 1/20 and exhausted benefits 7/19/20) when you have gone to claim the weeks did it start with the oldest week to claim first (which for me 4/4 would be the first and earliest week I would be entitled to PEUC since my benefit year is expired). Or did it start with most recent weeks to claim? I know it sounds like a mouthful.

So the first week I go to certify will the first payable week be 4/4 or will it be 6/27 (week #13)? Because if it goes newest (6/27) to oldest I already see a potential problem with claim being screwed up with some earnings and then none.. as I've seen countless times even when people tried to reassert their claim by the Saturday in the week they were claiming. If it goes 4/4 through 6/27 it should go smoothly and I stop with week ending 6/6. also for people with both exhausted benefit year how did it show up in your online account or was it only available when you went to clam the weeks online? Did it have a claim file date listed on your online account?

I feel like I'm so close but I'm not figuring it's a slam dunk by any means yet.

Appreciate any feedback from those who were in my similar situation. Thanks.
I'm in a similar situation. I got a call Friday morning the specialist said she fixed my account and paid me the 13 week PEUC and added the NJ 20 week extension. She told me I should be able to see my information online by Monday. I did check online yesterday during my time slot the questionnaire below came up. I filled it out my last day worked was 12/3/2018 answered all questions No and submitted. It came back saying I was eligible for the 13 week PEUC and that my next certification date was for the week ending 7/25 which would be right since the rep said she paid me through this week. Hopefully I can see some dates and amounts online Monday.

Good luck with your situation. Looks like your getting close.

Application for the 13-week Pandemic Extended Unemployment Compensation (PEUC)
The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act creates a new temporary federal program called Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC). PEUC provides up to 13 weeks of additional unemployment benefits to individuals who previously collected state or federal unemployment benefits but exhausted those benefits.
You are eligible for PEUC if:
You are unemployed for weeks within the time frame of March 29 through December 26, 2020. You have an unemployment insurance claim dated 7/8/18 or later with no current unemployment insurance eligibility. You are not currently eligible for any other state or federal unemployment benefits.
Please note: If you qualify for PEUC and previously filed for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA), you must exhaust all PEUC benefits before continuing to accept additional PUA benefits. It is fraudulent to accept payment on two different programs for the same claim week.

Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC) Claim Application Questions:
1. Have you worked in New Jersey since you last filed for unemployment insurance benefits? Yes No
2. What was the last date you worked in New Jersey? If you do not know the exact date please provide an
estimated date. Enter Date as MM/DD/YYYY:
3. Have you worked out of state since you last filed for unemployment insurance benefits from New Jersey? Yes No
4. Have you collected unemployment insurance benefits from any other state since you last claimed
unemployment benefits from New Jersey? Yes No

First off, hallelujah that you finally got to talk to someone. And second, obviously I can't answer for NJ but in CA it started with the first week of qualifying. So you go oldest to most recent week in certifying. I would "imagine" all states would follow that but I can't speak to NJ.

STILL CROSSING FINGERS FOR YOU! I hope you finally are able to certify soon.

Thanks for the update. People have been saying you certify current weeks first and then go backwards for claiming weeks which doesn't make sense to me because employment and how you answer the questions for each week wouldn't be in the right sync. If you worked and lost a job in July but certified that week first and then went backwards the system wouldn't accurately read or depict work and separations correctly IMO. If that makes sense the way I'm saying it. Under normal conditions you would never certify a week that occurred 10 laters before the initial first 10 week of a claim.

What date would be your first week of PEUC. Did you request at the time of the phone call that the rep pay you for all back weeks? I was wondering if the rep would do that for me for weeks 4/4 through 6/6 and then the last three I would . The rep I had on the phone's name was Sherry. She seemed decent and was definitely an agent/specialist versus one of the message takers who can't do anything with the claim. I will see if she calls back tomorrow and what she has to say.

Good luck with yours and keep me posted. I will do the same. What a long journey since April.

Thank you. It caught me so off guard I was a like a bumbling fool the first few minutes on the phone until I got my composure back and got down to business. Who expects a call at almost 5pm on a Saturday. when she said oh I needed to file a new claim I almost went off because I thought great back to work sporadically for a couple of weeks now shouldn't screw up the weeks I was entitled to previously. And like my argument has been that May 18th when extensions were started in NJ I was unemployed and had no employment since my benefits exhausted and my benefit year ended. The questions asked about previous weeks shouldn't be based on a date in mid July after the fact. that's why I said no when she asked me if I worked since January 2019. I felt I was being truthful because on May 18th and thru early June I wasn't. I wasn't getting dumped off when I was this close. At this point I didn't work 10 of the 13 weeks but if they were to go newest weeks to oldest I'm a dead duck in the water because I know the majority of the ppl who went from work one week to none the next in NJ have been back sitting in limbo to get the claim turned back on again. What did your benefit year date say on your claim after the PEUC weeks were added on. Was it a new ending date? That's another thing I'm not sure on.

Who knows ...she could call tomorrow (well hopefully she calls LOL) and say again sorry but you have to file a new claim. I clearly told her I had no wages to establish a new claim benefit year.

I will get my list together now so if/when she calls I have everything written down that I want to ask.

and so it goes..... to be cont'd.

It said my original claim start date and then "ON EXTENSION". It didn't list a new end date.

Good luck with the next call. Good idea to have some notes ready just in case.

First you did the right thing by not filing a new claim. I did this following one of their reps instructions even though I had not worked since Dec 2018 and indicated that in filing the claim. Subsequently a different rep told me this was the wrong thing to do and he opened a ticket to have this claim cancelled.

When I was called by a specialist last Thursday looking for someone else and decided to help me I told her that the claim I had filed had been approved for 11 weeks which I saw online. She checked and said this claim was all wrong that she was going to cancel it and work on my PEUC extension. She called me back Friday morning and told me that she cancelled the claim I had mistakenly filed and that she paid me for the 13 week PEUC and added the new 20 week extension. I did not ask her to pay me she did it on her own (very nice of her). I went online on Friday during my window to see if I could certify any weeks and received a message saying my next filling date was for week ending 7/25. I'm hoping I can see my claim status online tomorrow for more details.

Like you said when you got the call after months of trying you are in shock and can't think of asking all the questions. Questions I now have are: What is the start date of the 13 week PEUC?. What is the weekly benefit rate? Is it the present rate or is the rate I had during my original claim?

It certainly has been a long journey and hopefully the end is in site. I'll keep you posted.

Good luck to you in resolving your issue.

start date for PEUC should be week ending 4/4/20 since you were an old exhauster as well. The PEUC rate will be the same rate that you collected on UI claim (amount you were collecting when you exhausted). The EB will follow suit and be at the same rate as PEUC.

This lady at first said I would have to file a new claim and then I said no I wouldn't not any earnings to establish a new UI claim. She said she would work on it and get back to me. I've heard some say they've gotten a call back as late as 7pm. But IDK about a Sunday at that hour. She did call the landline first yesterday round 2:30 said she would try back in an hr and then called round 4:00 on my cell line. She asked if I wanted cell to be the number to which I said yes. I never answer the landline. So I sit counting down. I just checked online account status and nothing changed as of yet. I will have to call the phone and check that way.

Finally some really good news on my issue. This morning I had 15 weeks of payments deposited in my bank. I am assuming it is for the 13 week PEUC and 2 weeks of the 20 week extension. Also, had 15 weeks of the sup $600 deposited. The rate was the same as my original UI claim rate. The start date looks like it was with week ending 4/4.

I have not received any notice on my extension and still can't see any information on my account when I check the claim status online. I'm thinking this portal may only be for those who put in new claims. My next online claim window is Wednesday so hopefully I'll be able to see the data. Hoping all goes smoothly going forward.

How are you making out? Did you get the call back yet?
