At Home Depot, there were lots of families and lots of the masks pulled down to their chin (mostly pre-teen or teen kids).
I'm not sure what part of town you're on but my imagination would extend to believe that areas like Lakeway or more retirement / elderly established communities will probably have more people utilizing them than younger yuppy puppy establishments like Domain or (possibly) intown Austin.

I would assume this is also probably why Myrtle Beach SC is faring better than us as well.

Younger crowds tend to feel less vulnerable thus they dont treat it as a big concern on a personal level.

I am in SW Austin. The HEB serves mainly Circle C and Western Oaks, et al. The HD is in Sunset Valley.

My mom is in Fredericksburg, which does have a very case load - I think 3 right now? It is very 'retirement' heavy, but it sounds like pretty much no one is wearing a mask anywhere and really not doing much of anything special - including my mom :/.

This has been my experience as well. Everyone wearing them at HEB. Many businesses requiring them to pick up food or go inside. The only places I don't typically see them is out on walks or hikes.

Possibly. Median age here in North Myrtle Beach is 60 years old.

Actually went to the Cedar Park Costco last week. First store I’ve been inside for two months. Every person was wearing a mask and SDing. All of my family wears masks in public places... kids & grandkids.
At the HEB curbside service on 620 just west of Round Rock everybody was wearing a mask, including all who were inside their waiting cars. Also the construction workers were wearing masks.

The Home Depot I went to was in in Lakeway. I've also been to the HEB in Lakeway. Lots of people not wearing them. It was mostly younger folks I saw not wearing them, though.

I think Costco is requiring everyone who enters the store to wear a mask. HEB was apparently they lifted that requirement.

I'll say one thing. I've probably used more hand sanitizer in the last 2 months than I have in my entire life.

I feel pretty safe going out because it seems others are being careful too. Even at the beach people are keeping their distance.

I'm now in North Myrtle Beach with pop of 16K and we have 5 cases.
My former rural Texas town of 5K has 20 cases. I called my girlfriend in Texas and she told me that no one out there was wearing a mask because they didn't think it would hit their town. Well surprise, surprise. Seems to have originated from the DQ out there and now that is shut down. One person has died and they were under 50 years old.
So far the Covid death rate in Texas is 4 per 100,000 vs. 6 in SC.
Of course that will probably change in a month or so after all the younger adults who “busted out” of SiP this past weekend to party it up have infected their parents & grandparents.
