This is the "disco" era for rap music, a very few truly talented acts (ex - Chic, Barry White, Gamble & Huff/Philly Soul) in a ocean of catchy but highly disposable and highly forgettable crapola. That's the reason the acts from the Motown Era are known and still treasured to this day while most couldn't tell you the name of any disco groups or titles unless they grew up in the 70's being fans of disco.

Also, the same year that 50 Cent was the biggest artist in rap, the biggest selling hip-hop album was released by an Atlanta rap duo. Atlanta has just had a constant barrage of artist for over a decade now.
