Anger, resignation as massive pay gap prompts Carrier's Mexico move | Reuters

Carrier plans to lay off 1,400 Indy workers in Mexico move | 2016-02-10 | Indianapolis Business Journal | IBJ.com

This ties to CT because Carrier is a wholly owned subsidiary of United Technologies.

Good thing CT gave UTC about 400 million in potential tax credits. I don't know how they would survive otherwise.

"Malloy and the General Assembly approved a deal two years ago, calling on the parent company of Otis elevator, aerospace parts manufacturer Goodrich, Carrier and other businesses to invest up to $500 million to upgrade and expand its aerospace research, development and manufacturing facilities over the next five years.
In exchange, United Technologies is using up to $400 million in state tax credits.
Supporters said 2,500 suppliers, including many machine shops, will benefit. Critics called it corporate welfare for a publicly-traded multinational."

Malloy and his cohorts (on both sides) are buying very expensive PR with these bribes. I think part of it is -- they want to look like pro-business in high-profile, newsworthy announcements. Meanwhile, they are bleeding CT dry by a thousand cuts, quietly, by ever-tightening the noose around businesses' jugular.

The only people who believe that Malloy is good for the business community are the Democrats that have destroyed this state.

They don't understand the economy and will never admit that their policies are what is causing businesses to flee.

Henry,

but it worked so well with the Democrats and Unions running Michigan and making the US car industry such a powerhouse, with Michigan doing so well!

Something has to be done to change course. Upper-income residents are fleeing the state and it is showing in declining home sales prices. In the Hartford areaa many homes are selling at prices considerably below the 2009 crash prices. Additionally, many are selling below 2002 prices erasing entirely any gains realized from the fed stimulating the housing market with interest-rate reductions. Nationally this plan has run out of gas, but locally it is a double whammy to those retiring as they are losing equity in their house and are realizing near zero returns on savings and bonds. It is my opinion that the constant barrage of bad economic news with the state has charged many people retiring/retired with an increased sense of urgency to sell now and leave the state before they are unable to sell or their home will be worth less. I personally know people who are retired who had no plans to ever move who now are scared and feel they need to move NOW because they fear massive tax increases and/or being stuck, unable to move if they need to. March home sales in Connecticut strongest since '07 - Hartford Courant in the future.

That article is based on March numbers, which was the worst month of the last 7. The other six show gains...

No other choice right now. Tax revenue is off by 100m (the personal income tax is down about $75 million and the sales tax is down about $28.2 million). The state will probably raise taxes "temporarily" next year.
