I grew up in eastern mass and moved to western mass and now ct. Yankees fans are pretty rate in eastern mass but are much more common and it took me awhile to "get" this. Long story short back in the day when sports were on over the air tv there might not have been much of a local broadcaster that could reach into other markets. You became a fan based on what you could watch. Parents can influence kids to a point and well if your dad was yankees or giants fan chances are you might have been. Of course things changed with the internet and cable. Now I can watch entire leagues and sports of teams (HK seven's anyone?) around the world and be a fan, it's much harder to fixate on a given point. I've heard of significant red sox fans in parts of florida to the point where snowbirds caused a WEEI broadcast to be there

The Bills are coming to CT right after the new Hartford Civic Center is built.

Having grown up in FFC and knowing many people there, I can count the number that are Yankees-Pats on one hand. Actually, on less than one hand.

Connecticut has so many crossover fans.

Giants-Red Sox is the most common I know
I know a few Canadien-Red Sox-Celtics-Giants

And ahh cannot forget the most eye rolling mix: Yankees, Patriots, Lakers and Bruins. The bandwagon team!

Amen. Perhaps we can get another AA baseball team at some point, but that is our ceiling. We lack what it takes for a Big 4 team.

The latter is going to happen eventually.

I'm surprised Hartford doesn't have a AAA baseball team as it's definitely big enough for that.

There are only 30 AAA teams in the USA and we already have 1 essentially in Hartford’s backyard (Worcester, MA) 60 miles away.

Yeah.. I wish that the Paw Sox moved to CT over MA. Hartford is a much more developed and overall better city than Worcester.

Wouldn't support it IMO. Our attendance in New Haven & Bridgeport through the years at lower levels was below average. The night Milford jai alai opened to an overflow crowd, West Haven (once home to many Yankee future stars) drew 81 fans. That was not rare. West Haven was just in the hundreds all year, so jai alai was not the issue overall.

My high school used the stadium and most years outdrew baseball, on average.

AAA today-you best average 6k per game..even weekdays, year after year. No hiccups.

The formerly named Sound Tigers, one level under NHL, can only dream of 6k a game.
