I am glad to help out when I can, Charley. You have done much in the way of research which has helped us greatly. I do believe that Delaware is the place for us. Now, we will wait until all of the parts come together in the place we are meant to be.
I am wondering about the news concerning the housing prices across the nation. Seems like a good time to buy but I wonder if manufactured homes in communities such as Southern and Wild Meadows are affected by the crunch. I guess I will have to watch the resale market in those two places ( mostly Wild Meadows ) to find out!!
Off to watch more football. Yah Steelers!

Take care, everyone.

Thanks Joycie,
Even though we are settled in SM, I wondered about Nittany Glen. We never did get up to visit and I just wondered. But after your report, I know I am where I'm supposed to be.
We couldn't of been able to afford it either.
Besides, 300 homes is kinda large. Even though SM is not filled up it will only have 94 homes.
Sort of like up close and personal.
And,
Yep..........Taxes are a biggie. Not only is there a huge differenece in the taxes between DE and Pa, you have to figure everything always increases.
I saw your other post on Dover Downs. Sorry I dont' have a clue what they pay but now I am wondering too.
Now that things have calmed down, visitors have been and the excitment is just about over
I am thinking of looking for a part time possibly seasonal job. Hopefully after the summer of 2008. I want another pool summer with no interruptions
I started my application for the state. I found out it has to be done on line. Boy, it is hard. Not like applications years ago with simple stuff.
You have to be creative and explain as though you are a rocket scientist to impress.
I mean, I went to high school and that is it. I am taking 2 courses this fall but one is electrical and the other plumbing. Yeah, I want to learn how to fix my own and not pay $80 for someone else to walk in my house and tell me I have a problem.
Now I will be watching the post for dover downs jobs.
There is another casino in Harrington called Slots.
have a great day

My first gut reaction tells me that State College has just fallen off my list.
So my friends, it looks like you're going to continue to be stuck with me.

Glad to have you in DE Charley You have to figure, these prices are the prices for now. The will go up.
I know we liked Barclay Farms 2 years ago and were thinking about that place.
But by the time we got there, it was out of our price range.
Then,
We stumbled on SM.

Elizamary,
Ain't you the one.... Learning how to fix stuff! - a woman after my own heart (lol). I've been trying to get my wife to learn how to do small stuff to save her money if I pass before she does (actuarilly, I should). But, she still can't tell the difference between a pair of pliers and a screw driver (lol). A lot of homeowner stuff can be done by the home owner. Call in the big guns when you try and go beyond your abilities. Also, your knowledge about SM is so thorough and with your bubbly personality, maybe you could work for SM? Just a thought.
JocyieM,
I've been to Dover Downs many times as a customer and have stayed in the hotel attached to the casino. Both the casino and the hotel are nice. I worked here in AZ at a Native American casino and one thing I noticed is they don't discriminate because of age. When I was playing at Dover I also noticed some old timers like me working there. So, getting a job there after retirement might not be too difficult.

I always said that with a pair of pliers, a phillips-head screw driver, a can of WD-40 and a roll of duct tape, there's almost nothing you can't fix!

Eliza, I posted this on another thread. I thought I'd move it over here in case you didn't see it. Hope it helps...or at least gives you a perspective of the area.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OK...eliza....try this....
Up 95...get off at Exit 6 just beyond the Blue Rocks Stadium...near the outlets....at end of ramp, turn right on to Maryland Ave.
Go to Rt. 48, Martin Luther King Blvd. .....take a right on to MLK Blvd.
Go straight...it will take you to the station.
Hope that gets you closer if you look at a map.
Here's a pic and other info:

I like the idea of not having to maintain the outside!
