I am so excited!!! It is Halloween! I love this holiday. My husband will take our boys out and I will stay and pass out candy. I adore seeing the kids!

I am making a small batch of sauce and meatballs and will serve with fat spaghetti tonight. This is a favourite with my boys so I know they will eat it fast and have a nice full stomach before they go out.
Dessert for me will be whatever candy is leftover. I bought Heath bars and Oreo candy bars for most of the trick or treaters. Wax lips and glow stick creepies for those with allergies!

Have I mentioned I am excited?
Have a Happy Halloween everyone!

magicshark, Halloween is one of my favorite holidays too! I enjoyed it more than my daughter when she was a little girl. I decorate my home and office. I have Paydays, Kit Kats, Skittles, apples and Peppermint Patties to hand out.

I made a double batch of Polish sausage soup. They're out of place but I like garbanzo beans in there. So half has garbanzos and the rest has pintos. That's what was on the shelf. I think it calls for Great Northern.

I'm going to give half to the kid when he comes by for supper tonight. He told me the other day he doesn't like garbanzos. Who could not like garbanzos? Wonder if he knows that's what hummus is. Guess I'd better not tell him.

Makes me think of one time when daughter was young she said at the table that she didn't like onions and unbeknownst to her nearly every casserole or soup she'd been eating all her life had onions in it. The table was silent.

Of course these days she is an omnivore par excellence. (One holiday she brought us an appetizer with lobster brains in it!)

One last big piece of lasagne left and some garlic bread which will go to Bachelor Son when he drops in and I'll toss him a salad with Italian dressing. Then he can take home the zero garbanzo soup.

On this night each year I make a big pot of chili, which we take outside and eat with sour cream, tortilla chips, and shredded cheese. It's 76 and sunny, so a nice evening ahead. We typically set out chairs and a fire pit at the top of our driveway and hand out candy from there all evening. We live at the back of the neighborhood and up a steep hill; we still get a fair amount of kids. One of our neighbors out front gives out homemade treats each year and is prepared for 750 guests this year.

Hot apple cider to drink.
