Let's talk about self-segregation in the most literal sense. Since the passage of civil rights laws in the 60's, what have Whites done whenever "too many" Blacks (or Hispanics or Asians) have moved into predominantly White neighborhoods? They move away. Never mind the fact that the Blacks that are moving there could also be middle-class families, once it gets "too Black," White folks bolt. So don't just pin that "self-segregationist" label on Blacks.
This is true, blacks aren't the only ones to self-segregate.
I wonder what this guy thinks about big piercing in ears. Skinned tight jeans for a guy with chains and silver belt buckles hanging off along with holes in the pants. Spikes around the risks. I wonder if that is traditional?? And nowadays you are seeing a lot of younger whites with baggy pants. Even a grown white male brought that to my attention one day. I never thought anything about it until he mentioned it, and then I start seeing it more... Well what do you know
This whole thread has become a racial back-and-forth...and I knew that would happen. That's why I knew it was destined for absolute failure. With an OP like that, it didn't stand a chance.
It seems flywriter is distancing himself from the black culture as if he's ashamed of it. I don't care what other race you are; don't try and act like your above the rest of us and say you don't identify with the black culture. Black culture is not Hip Hop, guns, violence, and more. You sound even more ignorant than the dudes insulting you. With this behavior; I can see why blacks wouldn't want to hang out with you.
Why would I hang with some dude who tells me the way I live and my culture is wrong and I should conform to the "mainstream american" culture???

I agree, I'm done with this thread... moving forward from this point on! . Ill just sick back and enjoy like you.. No more comments from me! I could kick my own self in the behind for this one. I should have never said anything after the OP, because basically he told us his life in twenty seconds and how he feels. With statements like those I should have known better...

What is black culture then? What defines it? What are some of its characteristics? How does it differ from mainstream American culture?
Also, why should I try to take on a culture that I was not raised with and don't live around, just because of my skin color? It's certainly not that I think I'm better than anyone else, I just have experienced life a little differently.

Nobody ever once said you should take on a culture you were not raised with. How can somebody expect you to if you don't know where to begin? But I don't buy that stuff about you don't think you're better than anybody else. Because everything you have said indicates otherwise. And that's where my problem lies with what you have been posting.

Wait; the black culture is different from mainstream culture?? Do we not all eat, work or sleep?? Do we not all try to become successful??? Do we not all go to the potty the same way?? Are you telling me that life could be so much better than selling drugs, listening to rap music, slap B****es, paying child support, living on welfare and robbing banks??? Sign me up!
I'm not saying what you should be part of, but there is really no defined definition of black culture. Believe it or not but we pretty much do the same thing as whites. *shocker*

I will state it plainly: I do not think I am better than ANYONE else. I know that God creates us all equally. I know I am no better than a black person, white person, ghetto person, or any other human being.
