I was a widow at age 33 yes my first husband died by accident . i kept my rings off for nine years . Im now remarried and should something happen to him I dont think I would remarry again . You leave your rings on for as long as you want or whenever you think it is time to take them off . God bless you and take care .
I've always loved jewelry and I have quite a bit of it. My wedding rings were off and on depending on what else I was wearing. So I never wore them all the time. Plus there were times I worked around electricity and heavy equipment and was not allowed to wear jewelry. I guess I never became particularly attached to wearing them all the time.
Mine are in my jewelry box.
All his jewelry is in another box to be cleaned and polished. I took what I wanted to keep and the rest I am going to give away.
It has ben four years since my wife went on before me and I still wear my ring remembering she put it on my finger 57 1/2 years ago. I suppose I will wear it until she takes it off!
My sympathies, Bluff. What a wonderful long marriage you had! Oh, that we all could say that!

You were so young, pl! I hope you had children to help keep you having a purpose in life. I'm glad to hear you found another love.

I never took my rings off during marriage, and I haven't since he died two and a half years ago. We were married 36 years, so they're a part of me. At my age, I can't see myself dating or remarrying. I still consider myself married to him spiritually, even though I know I'm not legally or in the eyes of the church. But I am in my heart.

Marcy, I agree with you 100%....could not have said it better myself. Thank you for putting into words what I am feeling in my heart.

I was wondering today, how long do I wear my wedding ring?? Since I have no intention of dating, I told myself forever. I lost my husband a week ago. I am all by myself, no children, no family. I have two maltese cutie girls, who miss their daddy. I cry all of the time, each day. I feel abandoned. We were together for 38 years. He was a man's man. I devoted my life to my husband because he meant the world to me. He was 23 years older but funny, I thought he would outlive me. We had a beautiful marriage. He came down with Alzheimer's seven years ago, they call it the long goodbye and in March he was diagnosed with cancer. The last few years were a nightmare watching him go downhill. I would never wish Alzheimer's on my worst enemy. I miss him so much, I still feel part of me is dying. Thank you for sharing your stories. I am crying right now. The loss is so unbearable to me at times.
