You mean to say the rest of Nebraska could survive if Omaha formed its own state? Or joined Iowa? At least then it would get the gambling it so wants to be home too.

Didn't we fight the Civil War to be a "United" States and not a bunch of petty, backwards regions?

Oh, I really don’t think we should start a civil war to get rid of the petty, backward Omaha region. Perhaps a voter initiative would more appropriate.

I know this is more a sarcastic statement that anything, but....in reality it just might pass.

It's funny that we're so reliant on the rest of the state when in fact more than half of the money that state makes in a year comes from Omaha alone. Who would be hurting without the other?

You might want to read-up on the Republican River compact with Kansas. We're all hoping the good folk in Omaha will pick up that tab.

Come on folks, let's stop the pi*ssing contest.
If you love the rural areas, live in rural Nebraska. If you love the urban areas, live in Omaha.
But let's not spend out time bad-mouthing each other.
I grew up on a farm outside a small town in Iowa, and I loved it. It was great.
My family now lives in the middle of Omaha, and we absolutely love it. It's a perfect fit for us.

If Nebraska booted Omaha and it became part of Iowa then all of your family would live in the same state? So you’d give the thumbs up, right?
Besides, Omaha has more in common with Iowa than with the rest of the state of Nebrasaka. Omaha is basically the western suburb of Council Bluffs.
