Oddly enough, last night I received a phone call from one of the companies I'd submitted a resume to, and after we talked for about 45 minutes, we setup a face to face for the 15th of March. . . . so, in effect, I MIGHT even have a job BEFORE I even MOVE to Pittsburgh . . . . . how's THAT for a "zilch" job market?......LOL!!!
This actually doesn't surprise me. I've heard stories like this from far more than one person. Then again, my brother who was born and raised here, and has had a hard time finding a job that is really good for him. Out of curiosity, what field are you in?

Hi. We live in Dravosburg, PA, which is about 15 minutes from Downtown Pittsburgh. Literally, we are right on the bus line. It is a safe older small river town.

I am currently selling my house for $130K, it has 3 bedrooms, 2 bath, finished basement/gameroom, 2 fireplace, plenty of room and completely renovated & remodeled in the last 2 years.

We are in a central location to the city & some of the ethnic neighborhoods of the city. Pretty much everything is about 15 minutes away in any direction.

Please feel free to email me if you are interested.

PS...I am flexible on the price of the house too. We just put it on the market and we are looking to build our dream house on a farm.

Thanks!--- If you can send a link to pics and details of the house, we'll keep it in mind as a "Plan B", in case the one we're set on currently doesn't pan out!!!!

A quick update:

I just wanted to thank everybody who was so helpful in this thread. We have chosen a house in Dormont, and have sent the paperwork in to the Realtor to submit to the relocation company/finance company.

If everything works out as expected (crosses fingers), we should be Burgh-bound in about 60 days or so!!!

IF ANYONE NEEDS THE NAME OF A GOOD REALTOR IN PITTSBURGH, I'LL BE HAPPY TO GET YOU IN CONTACT WITH THE ONE I USED!--She was very professional and helpful in every aspect of the hunt so far!!!!!

Be sure to keep evertone updated. Although I don't post much, I often read this forum and people always inquire about areas and announce what they've decided and never post again. I think the most interesting part is to hear what they think of the area when they arrive and a few months later.

Well, as long as I can find this thread again...LOL!

Actually, we're coming to Pittsburgh again Saturday (tomorrow), and I have a few interviews scheduled for over the weekend, and we'll also be showing houses to the in-laws. . . . so, I'm sure I'll be fairly active in this board from now on!...Thanks!!!

You might as well surrender to the inevitable and just enjoy it.

In all seriousness, welcome to the region!
