I don't think his age has anything to do with it. From all of his posts it's clear he's just one more guy with an opinion who is intolerant of anyone who doesn't share his opinion.
There are PLENTY of vets, his age and older, who don't share his opinion. And who respect other vets who do not believe in mandatory service.
If he served in Vietnam (I don't think he's said when he served and I'm guessing his age) I'm more than surprised he's as intolerant of opposite viewpoints on this issue as he is. And as strident. Most came home sick and tired of what they saw with no particular need to see it repeated. Ever. Especially via another draft. No vet I know would call another vet a traitor simply because vet #2 said "vets aren't special". That, to me, was very strange.

A super ego is usually hiding an insecure person that is struggling to convince themselves that they aren't.
A wall to hide behind, in a manner of speaking. The older you are, all the higher you've built it.
Trying to push that wall down endangers the fragile ego behind it.
OK.....amateur (psychiatrist) hour over
I just hope she's not a traitor to her country, the constitution, she took an oath to defend and uphold.
Most military, and veterans, are way to hierarchically dictatorial to even consider defending or upholding the constitution, their country. They have a strong need to be told what to do.

That is be true for some, but definitely not all. Please don't paint all with the same brush.

Can you please describe how 'prideful and patriotic' those who lied about our progress and body counts in Vietnam were in lame attempts to make the war seem worthwhile were?
Can you describe how 'prideful and patriotic' those who made lame attempts to cover-up the actrual cause of Pat Tillman's death were?

Everything in the military is done in the best interests of our country.
Killing by some thief in the 'hood' for his own financial gain is called murder.
Killing someone that breaks into your home and is threatening your life is excused.
Going to their house and killing them in a pre-emptive action is also called murder.
The analogy should be clear.

What a lame-ass excuse for liars and a lying cover-up.
