I hate to admit it but I see a big faultline through the whole "see something, say something" mantra. And it's blue.
See something, say something is a valuable idea, provided it’s not enforced as in North Korea. We all have a gut instinct that something isn’t right. I’ll agree that trusting the police is a bit spotty, but they’re what we got, and if you see something that’s really off, you have to tell someone.
So I don't have rights and the one shooting at me that has a KNOWN mental issue and shouldn't own guns does. That's what I get out of the tripe your saying.
No, I am saying that in order to remove someone's rights, the government has to go through due process. That is the 5th and 14th amendment.

That is exactly what I want to see in CCW training. The reason I don’t carry is precisely because without a background in combat, I don’t trust myself to be calm, smart, and skilled enough to use a firearm in a way which doesn’t unnecessarily raise the stakes.

The skills are another matter, though. Provided I don’t feel like Rambo, any encounter will have an adrenaline dump and could involve shooting from positions you don’t get in any traditional range shooting sesh. Unless I can be the guy who is able to make a mag dump into a bad guy in that environment, after being kicked to the ground or stabbed, I don’t think I have truly earned a CCW license.
Explain that please? I also have a bit of suspicion towards that, but I think it’s a net benefit to have some situational awareness and be able to report to LEOs, even if I’m not 100% trusting of them. They’re still better equipped than I am to deal.

So what do you plan to do when you get kicked to the ground or stabbed?
If you have a gun, you can always not shoot.
Being armed, immediately running for cover can becomes a true option to gain a defensive advantage, whereas unarmed I'd just be cornering myself for slaughter.
If I’m not the guy with the gun, I’m not necessarily someone who needs to get terminated. If I pull some iron, I am that guy, so I need to be able to wield it with a high degree of proficiency.
