I disagree, that there is no compelling reason for a moon trip at this time. The first compelling reason. I don't think anyone is satisfied with the image quality of the video and pictures taken on the moon between 1969 and 1972. I think most people want some decent high definition images of the surface of the moon.
You do not need humans to take high res pictures of the Moon. Since Apollo, we had numerous lunar orbiters and landers. The most recent, I believe, was the Chinese lunar lander in 2013. There are some planned to launch in 2018 and beyond as well. China plans to conduct a sample return in ~2019 and India is sending a lunar rover in 2018 for example.
NASA currently operates the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, which by the way, photographed all Apollo landing sites (Apollo 11 through Apollo 17) and some other sites (Surveyor 1, LADEE).
We witnessed the rockets go up, we then later saw the capsules come down, from which the astronauts emerged, looking MUCH more 'haggered' and worn-out then they appeared when they first entered the rocket, prior to lift-off.
Difficult for me to believe they spent all that time (in the interim) just sitting there, crammed-together in the capsule like a bunch of sardines, playing cards over sippy-bottles of Tang.
Conspiracy-theorists are a dime a dozen, these days.
My advice: do the right thing & get back on your medz...YESTERDAY.
The Astronaut's Wives Club was a wonderful audiobook! In it they mentioned some film footage that was messed up. I can't remember if the equipment failed, human error, whatever. They didn't want to disappoint viewers and tried to recreate the experience in a studio. Those plans were scrapped but the images continue to resurface periodically.
If someone posted that in all these pages, sorry for not reading through.
The hundreds if not thousands of people including NASA employees, and MANY, many contractors have not come forward in all these years, and I think someone would have spilled the beans by now.
This...two people can't keep a secret...yet we are to believe 100's did?...Both my kids attended PHUHS IB program seven years apart...they had a professor that believed in this theory 100% and convinced these young impressional kids that it was true...
I listened to Neil DeGrasse Tyson talk about this, he said it would be more difficult to fake than it would be to just to go there. I believe we went. I don't think we went back because there really wasn't a reason to. Not much there.
I viewed this program and heard Tyson's dismissive spiel about how the moon landing couldn't have been a hoax. But read these two linked articles, about what research has shown that happens to the brains of those who venture outside of our protective atmosphere:

this data suggests that astronauts who spend extended time in space
Extended time. The Apollo 17 crew spent less than 220 hours outside LEO. The study you're citing is about the concerns for Mars crew with their month- and yearlong exposure.
I worked security at the place he lived in the 1990's....Met him only once....Nice guy....Nice right hand punch also.
