I know you're in Nashville, and you think the Rockies look cool. Now Jackson is a famous ski resort right next to the Grand Tetons, but with a record low of negative fifty degrees Fahrenheit and 71.2 inches of snow on average, the winters rival Ottawa, except the record lows are lower.
Nice to ski there but living there? Just AWFUL.

Idaho falls is seven degrees warmer, but that still makes it colder than Toronto. Still AWFUL.

Thankfully, I visited both in the summer. The Tetons are beautiful to visit but it's not worth the horrible winters to live in Jackson.

People say Idaho Falls is close to Grand Teton and Yellowstone. Take this with a light grain of salt. Remember this is a very isolated part of the US, where people in smaller towns will drive an hour just to get groceries. When they say close, they really mean two to three hours by car.

And I did actually intern one summer in Idaho Falls. Nice people but the most boring town I've been to. Their main attraction is a Mormon Temple. Don't even try swimming or canoeing in the river there, it's deep, very fast and cold, and has lots of whirlpools. Only a speedboat can ply those waters.

The dining scene is abysmal. Their McDonalds doesn't even offer the special promotions offered in the rest of the country. Even the white guys complain how horrible the Chinese food there is. Fine dining is going to Olive Garden.

The town is the poorest I've been to. I say that even after having interned the following summer in Mississippi...Seriously, even Biloxi, Mississippi looks rich compared to Idaho Falls. Payday loans in Idaho Falls are as common as casinos in Vegas. And you know, payday loans are for some reason never in rich places and always in poor areas.

Based on weather alone, I say Idaho Falls. But very tough choice. Both too cold, tiny, and isolated.

Oh, and camping in Yellowstone in August? Once again, beautiful scenery, but even in August early mornings will often be 35 F even when the days get up to 80 degrees. It's sucks hard if you're sleeping in a tent. Far too cold for summer.

One last thing: Jackson is surrounded by Alpine forests.

People expect Idaho Falls to be green and forested, but it's really a barren, windswept, flat, steppe.

Portland, OR or Vancouver, BC?

Okeechobee... As an Ohio native, I can see that Lima doesn't have many redeeming qualities. Okeechobee at least has the lake, is 45 min from the ocean, and is within 2 to 2.5 hours of Orlando, Tampa and Miami.

Charleston... bigger metro with more offerings. Prefer the look and feel of it as well. Savannah, while quite unique, wasn't my cup of tea.

Greenville, SC or Tucson, AZ?

Columbia, it's in the better metro, cheaper QOL. Actually, all of TN is fairly cheaper than most if not all states. OT: Tennessee is on my bucket list, at the very top. Been waiting to visit Memphis one day, great history, culture, and the hip hop artist that come from there are some of my favorites. would seem like a nice city to live if in a good neighborhood.

San Jose or Seattle
