Really? Would be a good compromise Russia didn't even want Crimea initially, but Crimea asked to become part of Russia.

I'm not trying to imagine anything. YOU are. The fact is a fact: Ukraine is a sovereign country, either you like it or not. It's economic dependency doesn't change the fact.

Therefore, the current military operation in Ukraine is nothing less than a military intervention in its internal affairs.

Again, the fact that Ukraine once was a part of the Russian Empire does not change anything. It is a separate country now. Times are changing. Get used to it!

Either Ukraine is a failed state or not is not relevant to the fact that Ukraine is a separate, independent country now. The more Russians will intervene, the more "nationalistic" and anti-Russian Ukraine will become.

Two options on the ballot:

- Are you in favor of the reunification of Crimea with Russia as a part of the Russian Federation?
- Are you in favor of restoring the 1992 Constitution and the status of Crimea as a part of Ukraine?

The restoration of the 1992 Constitution would make Crimea de facto independent. Aksyonov made clear, though, that they would choose to join Russia immediately.

So people simply can't vote for "Status quo is fine with me". There is no compromise in sight.

It will define a referendum. It will be on March 16.
And the document comes into force since March 17...

And it is an Euromaidan in the east of Ukraine (Donetsk).
These people were attacked by provokers (supporters of Russia) and killed one man. 10 more people in hospital...

Well, I suppose the point is that Crimea must become much more autonomous than it currently is under the centralist pseudo-government in Kiev.

Now, if people choose the second option, will there be sanctions on the Ukraine?

So your mind can't comprehend a possibility of people (>50% Russian speaking people) coming together to protest? Your Russian propaganda sources forgot to mention that pro EU meeting (hundreds of thousands of people, btw) was dispersing on its own, the next morning the square would've been empty, Yanukovich would have had all the power and all his loot if somebody up the command chain wouldn't have given orders to beat the remaining protesters up, to give an obedience lesson a mini Russian/Chinese style, so people would think twice before coming together to protest again. The next day the square was full of hundreds of thousands of people outraged about brutal beatings, damn evil West and nazi were so fast distributing their dollars among protesters. And that's this second protest that Yanukovich (and his Russian friends) couldn't control. As we all know, everything that balding Russian schizoid in chief can't control is funded by the US.

Thus, great leader Putin kicked off invasion scenario, of course an invasion on that scale didn't take any advance planning at all. Warm and fuzzy Russians couldn't possibly scheme and plan to destroy their neighbor given an opportunity. And it's not over yet, Russians are trying desperately to jump start a civil war (or at least bloodshed) in the Eastern Ukraine. All those pro-Russian supporters (many with Russian passports) beat and from now on kill their neighbors with different opinions out of their own will (no Russian funding or encouragement, that never happens). Russia is a bonafide fascist state run by a lunatic, face it now, because things will get much uglier in the future and you'll face that truth anyway.
