Needs one does it? Russia needs nothing g of the sort. Putin, according to an ex advisor wants Finland, the Baltic states, which are all are in a north south geographical alignment and Belarus back in Russian control. That gives a rather straight north-south border from the Artic until the Ukraine.

You mean Illarionov?
If Illarionov will say that Putin wants Australia, will you believe him?

The problem is that in the West people have forgotten how to think with his head.

Economics underpins all of this. Russia needs to reclaim the "economic rents" of its resources to pay for its services and boost its economy and not allow oligarchs to appropriate common Russian wealth. The same for the USA, who rely on its industrial/military complex to keep wealth moving. No need for any of this. Everything can be on a positive note.

Despite having a team of western advisors who knew the downside of the western capitalist system, Russia did not put in place the recommendations that would have ensured common Russian wealth would be used for common Russian purposes - it is being appropriated by private individuals and organisations. That is the crux of the Russian problem. To bolster a failing economy they then steal from others. There is no need if Russian gets it right internally.

A man shouts: "Ukraine, stand up".

Suggests that the Maidan was not without drugs.

What about the "buffer" country? Don't they get a say in the matter? This is precisely the reason why more and more countries have been joining NATO.
