I have to disagree....I think skinnies would be terrible on most with that type of build (even if lean)

Not my experience. I bought a pair of Jones New York jeans a few years ago, and wore them exactly three times. The first time I washed them, they shrunk about 2 inches and I had to give them to Goodwill.

Laugh if you want to, but the jeans that fit me best (I'm 5'8" and 128 pounds) and hold up the longest are St. John's Bay from Penney's. I buy them on sale for 20 bucks and wear them forever.

One thing that's wonderful about getting older is you don't fall for fashion traps and hype anymore. I CAN afford designer clothes but to me it's just a waste of money to buy things that are expensive and will look dated in a year.

How can someone be too skinny for skinny jeans? I don't really think skinny jeans should be worn by fat people...

I have seen it. The look like pipe cleaners with heads. Skinny jeans are not forgiving and cannot be worn by those that are too thin or those that are too curvy. Bootcut jeans look better on most people. Not in fashion for you? Don't wear them until you think they are back.

Wow. I've never seen someone hate a type of jeans so much! I always considered bootcut jeans to be the ones that anyone one could wear and always looked nice. You just have to buy the right ones. I love these ones:
Silver Suki Boot Stretch Jean : Women's Jeans | Buckle.com
Citizens of Humanity "Kelly" Bootcut Jeans in Wonder Wash - Bootcut - Bloomingdales.com
7 For All Mankind "Lexie" Bootcut Jeans in Archer Heights Wash - Bootcut - Bloomingdales.com

It makes me want to vomit. And I think they are unflattering because I think that the thighs are one of the most unattractive areas on the body and boot cut jeans tend to hug the thigh. I lived in Moscow for one year and I am from France, I have lots of family there, and I go back there once or twice a year, they would NEVER wear boot cut jeans. I have no problem if you are wearing them for practical reasons, that is part of life. It is just SO annoying when someone claims to be so in and brags about all their luxurious clothes and shopping sprees and then wears something that is not considered in fashion. It doesn't matter if they are popular. Birkenstocks and popular and they aren't in fashion. Beside, they are so Chav! You might as well wear them with uggs and a trucker cap. How is that in fashion?
I don't get your beef, as skinny styles hug the thighs much more than bootcut. Bootcuts balance out the body and are a good choice for many, which I have seen quoted in media and mags. Very few of us will be wearing what actually came down the runway in Paris. Most of that is couture.

I DO have that build (curvy/wide hips, round butt, and thick, toned thighs), and skinny cut jeans look just awful on it. Very unflattering, not balancing at all. Very lean cut jeans are simply not very flattering on the majority of people/body types.

Totally agree. I finally convinced my sister to try them and she looks like she lost 20 lbs
