Like Prohibition, it won't end with a bang, but a whimper -- as the "Karens" of this world recognize that their supposed "good intentions" and their desire for power to enforce them, are incompatible with a nation based on skepticism toward. and distrust of authority. During the first month of the pandemic, the need to err on the side of caution was (sensibly!) recognized, but it is becoming increasingly clear that a clique of political hacks are addicted to their new-found power, and don't want to give it up.
I voted in the Pennsylvania primary earlier today, and the "mask Nazis' would not have been pleased with the low level of compliance to their supposed edicts -- and I expect the voters' judgement on this issue will be made apparent at the general election this fall.

I’m actually surprised at how many people so quickly lost the mask. I thought it’d take a little time but going out now looks like it did in April of last year with few wearing one and those that do looking concerned.

It’s on the honor system. Only place I know they check is at sporting events you just show your vaccine “passport” on your phone
16 states reported ZERO deaths yesterday. Some folks may be willing to ratchet down the woke panic (India! Variants! Long Haulers! Vaccine Hesitancy! etc.). Others, not so much.
We will lose the biggest advantage of the mask: not being recognized while trying to quickly run errands, or not being approached by random people trying to talk to you about nothing.
This entire time while people have been wearing masks outdoors, they've taken them off when eating inside airplanes, shoulder to shoulder next to strangers inside a metal tube.
And the dumbest thing I keep hearing is the concern from people who got the vax about others not wearing masks. If you got the vax and you trust it, then you would be protected from people who are maskless.
But most people I know do not care about COVID anymore. They understand most of this is about communist control of our lives.
With this new CDC no mask guidelines does that mean I can walk into a grocery store without one even though the sign clearly states you must wear a mask to enter this store? There is going to be a lot of arguing over this. You walk in with no mask the store manager says put one on, you say I am fully vaccinated and I don't need to wear one. then you show your vaccine card and they still want you to put on a mask. I am just wondering how this will be handled starting tomorrow.

Some stores may deny the science and require masks. So, if you don’t want to wear a mask you can head elsewhere.
(One would imagine stores will permit the wearing of masks and not require them.)
