@lovella99 you should know that the manhattan pjs are the most mandated so that will definately be a long wait..it's important that you have a job because they are really making a priority for working class. Call them up and insist, if you have to write a letter to the borugh president and to nycha in downtown manhattan about your case do.
Note that even if you're in the waiting list for an interview it doesn't mean that you will get called..it could takes years for an interview.

Did anyone else see the article in the Daily News last week that stated they gave 500 empty NYCHA apts to the victim's of Hurricane Sandy. Looks like if your waiting for an apt it is going to be an even longer wait.

You should be Angry at the life time folks who live in NYCHA buildings generation after generation and abuse the system. Those people are taking up apartments you need! Don't be upset at the folks who lost their home and have no where to live!

Dear Dream207

Hurricane Sandy destroyed their homes, but now it’s City Hall that is kicking them onto the streets.
For six months, thousands of Sandy survivors have been scattered across the city, sleeping in hotels after one of the worst storms in history destroyed their homes. After months of delay City officials finally drafted a permanent housing plan for these families, but for many it will come too late.
That's because Bloomberg officials announced that this Tuesday, the City will stop paying for the hotels sheltering hundreds of Sandy families -- even if a family has no other housing option. It's cruel. It’s stupid. And it will punish the poorest victims of the storm -- sending literally thousands more people into the homeless shelter system.
Tell Mayor Bloomberg: Don't Kick Hurricane Sandy Victims to the Curb
With a record 50,000 New Yorkers already jammed into NYC homeless shelters, this is the worst possible moment to make even more families homeless.
Hurricane Sandy victims deserve better. They need safe, stable housing -- evicting them before they have a place to go is outrageous and cruel.
City bureaucrats claim that no one currently in the hotel program will end up on the streets. But the stark reality is that hundreds of families have no idea what they will do after Tuesday.
Tell Mayor Bloomberg to keep Sandy victims safe and off the streets until the housing he promised is ready for them!
Gratefully,
Mary E. Brosnahan
President & CEO

You go through a process. background check, eviction check, ineligibly check, than your on the waiting list to the projects you choice but thats if you had an outreach interview n if not the process may be longer. it all depends on ya family size/ number of rooms, income and disability if you have any...

I dont really think so, 7/10 people whom grow up poor, usually stay poor. its the same for the wealthy but just because they lost their homes they get to stay at hotels?? Nah stick their asses in a shelter like they would do any other person. They was handing out money, work plus all kinds of beanifits to these people. which isnt fair. People lose their homes, jobs each day and have to live in the street or if they choose shelter but half these wealthy people whom lost their houses NOT JOBS move into nycha? how is it fair that they get to jump the gun ( figure of speak) ??
people whom lost there homes go to shelters when they have nothing not hotels.. thats why the lost all that funding money they had. they was giving out jobs $18 an hour to help clean and these good hotels. now they cant help those whom have not had insurance. ITS ALL STUPID TO ME! but i think they can wait a bit like everyone else not move and be placed in a month or less smh.
