I'm peeved with unwanted advice on where I should look for my new car. No one knows my mind like I do.

I'm peeved by the fact that to date, without fail, every single one of my male professors has gone by Prof. LastName and every single one of my female professors has gone by FirstName. What's up with the gender divide? I'm all for respecting people's wishes and that's why I call them whatever they want to be called, but it peeves me that their natural preferences fall along such a drastic gender divide.

My professor doesn't like to be call her by first name either. She told us that she worked hard for her degree so she would like to be call Dr. (lastname). Understandable. The only professor that I call by his first name is my pastor, but sometimes I call him Professor (lastname) too.

The fact that one of my take-home exam questions actually asks me to justify why exploiting girls in the name of art is okay.

At least this is breaking the gender pattern.

BTW I call all my professors Prof./Dr. LastName until told otherwise, but what I've noticed is that it's always the female professors who tell me to just use their first name, whereas my male professors even sign their emails with Prof. or Dr. LastName.

Has anyone else noticed this gender divide or is it just me?
