He is too late just like he was at the beginning. Everything he has done has been reactive. He has never been out in front anticipating the problems. The governor and the DHS head have misled about the numbers and the real situation for months. They played down the risk and by doing so encouraged people to abandon social distancing and resist masking. All the inconveniences, lost income, weeks at home, and other sacrifices we made back in April are for nothing, wasted. If it is any consolation, we are not alone. Texas and Florida are headed halfway back to square one as well and several other states from Oregon to Kansas announced new restrictions. It is just the beginning, I'm afraid.

Well he personally is going to cost me at least $900, which will be the bare minimum it will cost to set up a home gym with real weights (i.e. barbells). I lift weights regularly and at this point I think I'm done going to regular gyms, since they can just be closed on a freaking whim now

He's lucky he can't run again (this is his 2nd term)! Now I have to look into spending hundreds of dollars on my own equipment, because I had to go almost 10 weeks without working out last time and it made me soft. Refuse to let that happen again!
And he's putting up a huge roadblock up in my progress toward the World Beer Tour

Of course being inside with people is worse, we've known it dissipates outside but inside it hangs in the air more. Like I said a couple weeks ago we can't really dine outside here in the Summer so eating at restaurants is not smart.

Before COVID, I bought a couple of used recumbent ellipticals for cheap https://www.octanefitness.com/home/p...s/xr6-classic/ and some weights (I need to get some more). By the time you drive back and forth to your club, you can be well into your 90-minute workout. If you have the room, IMO, it's the only way to go.

That said, he shut it down for a good reason. A health club is a GREAT spot to spread COVID.

Regular gyms have been disgusting for years. I've had a home gym for 15+ years and would never go back. I run outside and inside I have some machines, free weights and a bike. Never a wait for a machine.

Regarding ventilation: we've been advised to stay inside where it's supposedly safe, but now indoor A/C is contributing to the problem?! Also, while many people are staying inside during the hotter months, there are also plenty of others who spend a lot of time outdoors at recreational areas, going for walks, at the pools, etc.

Most other viruses become less of a concern during the summer, but our constant sun & warm/hot temps have done absolutely nothing as far as dwindling COVID 19. I'm thinking the sun & heat might actually be enhancing the potency of the virus based on how the number of cases have dramatically increased in FL, TX, CA, and especially AZ recently.

At this point, I'm about done with this place! Been here all my life, and generally like it here, but I'm sick of Phoenix & the state as a whole being in the negative national spotlight much of the time. We can't seem to do much of anything that gives us a positive reputation. It's always how low we rank in education, how high we rank in COVID 19 cases, how miserable our heat is, how many acres have burned in wildfires, etc, etc. I realize a lot of this is media sensationalism, but it's still an embarrassment.

Makes perfect sense, air conditioning. AZ should have stayed open till May while everyone was outside.

I wasn't clear. I was comparing northern states to hot and humid southern states. Obviously people in WI and MN are inside often during the summers (rain, work, evenings, etc). If it's a factor (heat and humidity make a surge in cases ) I didn't think about it before.

Naw. If anything, heat helps. Just not enough to overcome stupidity and selfishness. In a month (even when it's hotter), watch the infections peak and start to come down as people realize that they are vulnerable.
