What happened to "let us live our life and you live yours" talk when there was the big push to legalize gay marriage? Now it has changed to "accept gay marriage or pay up buddy". But all the left can do is just slap on the bigot and racist label. It really has no meaning anymore.

Maybe that's why she's uneasy. My own child is half Chinese and when we go to places that look like they're full of Trump voting types (blue collar, lots of pickup trucks, mostly white, older) who would support his racist views, she becomes uneasy.

You cannot tell a person how they're supposed to feel.
No, I'm not joking. Her point was that she was afraid of TRUMP and his policies, not everyone else. I should have clarified, but I don't need to be treated like an idiot. Someone who is a citizen does not need to worry about being deported merely because they are Hispanic - which was her fear, essentially.

The country does not change overnight, anyway. It is ridiculous to think that suddenly because Trump is president, people everywhere are going to treat minorities terribly. It's paranoia.

between 2016 to 2017 "allies" to lgbt went down 2% and "detached supporters" went up 2%.

"resisters" to lgbt has stayed the same for the last three years at 14%.

the overwhelming majority of americans are either allies or supporters in 2017 and combined reflect the same percentage as in 2016.

I'm confused why these numbers are considered a "significant" decline in support for lgbt. they obviously do not.

One reason I suspect that COULD account for an uptick in "supporter" and "ally" category is people have become afraid to speak out in ways that do not directly support the agenda.

So they may appear to agree simply because they don't feel like being screamed at, called a homophobe, called a bigot, or even being attacked. (That meme of the "tolerant liberal" we've all seen?)

People are afraid to speak in a truthful manner. I've seen it first hand.

It's beyond disturbing.
I added the source to my post. the glaad source, by the way, was the same source used by the author in the yahoo article in the OP.

You mean that a well respected, widely accepted expert in the field was all of a sudden discredited and shouted down by extreme left wing activists?

Because they are both born that way, just like heterosexuals are born that way.

I mean, his views are fringe. Always have been.

Again, oh please.

If you don't like gay marriage, don't get married to one of the same sex.

OTOH, you can't let your prejudices (and yes, it's a prejudice) prevent others from exercising that right, which has been affirmed by the Supreme Court.

Not only that, you also can't refuse public accommodation to others based on what they are. Which is why those bakers got in trouble - it's a business and a public accommodation that you have to make available to the public.

Discrimination is discrimination. And it's pathetic that some people are trying to use the fig leaf of religion to practice it.
