No, I'm not joking. Her point was that she was afraid of TRUMP and his policies, not everyone else. I should have clarified, but I don't need to be treated like an idiot. Someone who is a citizen does not need to worry about being deported merely because they are Hispanic - which was her fear, essentially.
The country does not change overnight, anyway. It is ridiculous to think that suddenly because Trump is president, people everywhere are going to treat minorities terribly. It's paranoia.
But, aren’t you being dismissive of her concerns?
It’s easy to be white and flippant, I guess.

The only people making a big deal about gays ... are gays. Nobody else cares. And I think that is the problem. The LGBT agenda wants more, more, more, attention, celebration, cannot ever have an opinion that isn't lockstep or you're immediately labeled a bigot, homophobe if you aren't interested or don't care. The word used to mean someone who actively hated LGBT, which isn't correct usage, but that is how it was used.
Now it's used for anyone and everyone who doesn't immediately accept 100% whatever agenda/meme is going around and dares to have a different opinion. Like, I don't care what you do. Somehow that is now considered hateful, because I should care all the time and devote all my energy into being an "ally." Newsflash: I've got a ton of other stuff to do. Unless you want to be my ally? Nope, didn't think so. And I don't CARE if you don't want to be my ally. Go live your life and I'll live mine.
See how that works?
Sounds like YOU are making a big deal about it. I've been reading your posts (a lot of them) You do care!
Had an opportunity to watch TV recently, and noticed that almost every family was interracial in the commercials I saw. I don't know if it was the channel or what, but absolutely noticeable that this population is being represented above it's percentage in the general population.
To point out a fact does not make anyone racist. It just means: Hey, here's a fact. Did you know this?
People who get offended by facts have problems.
So at what percentage do you think minorities should be represented on TV?
The black population is 45 million and hispanics number over 50 million now so they are basically 1 out of every 3 Americans according to the census.
People don't always treat people they perceive to be illegal aliens very kindly. Especially in Trump's America.
Maybe that's why she's uneasy. My own child is half Chinese and when we go to places that look like they're full of Trump voting types (blue collar, lots of pickup trucks, mostly white, older) who would support his racist views, she becomes uneasy.
You cannot tell a person how they're supposed to feel.
Racist against a half Chinese female? Tell her she has not a thing to worry about, even from those scary working class people. Alt-right Trumpie guys tend to have a soft spot for Asian girls, it's where they make an exception.
Also tell her you never know who is a Trump supporter and not to stereotype.
It’s not “kind” to enable mentally ill people into thinking their desire to be the opposite sex is normal. The “kind” thing to do is to tell them the truth and get them the mental help that they need.
Sounds like conversion therapy. I'm not to sure about YOUR mental state.
What you do with your genitals is none of my business, just as what I do with mine is none of yours. Mind your own damn business and keep your genitals in the bedroom.

I doubt that it being "Trump's America" makes any difference in this regard.

I'm going to guess that her unease is your fault.
My child is half Chinese, and his Mother is full Chinese, and when we lived in the US, we lived in a very white area. My kid went to a very white high school.
Neither my wife nor my kid ever felt the slightest unease.
And we lived in a very strong Trump-supporting area.

Of course you can. You are likely doing so even if you are not aware. Kids can sense when their parents are not at ease.
Trump supporters are not the Boogie Man.
