Yesterday, I started listening to the show that ends at 6:40pm, and then I had to take care of some other things. By the time I came back, it was in the 3rd or 4th inning. I followed it from there...the pitch by pitch radio coverage, and that same detail on espn.com's gamecast play-by-play.'
The Astros won 7-5 .
I immediately looked up the Yankees-Mariners game and it was 0-0. So, I clicked through to the gamecast play by play (especially interested because, if the Yankees lost, for the first time since opening day or close to it, the Astros and the Yankees would have the same record) and started following the game (about 55 minutes in...10:05pm CST).
What a pitcher's duel. I kept tack by inning (looking up the part I missed), both Cole and Castillo's pitch count, walks, hits, type of hit, and k's....Off the top of my head I think I remember it all....Cole = 109 pitches, 7 innings, 7 k's, 0 walks, 3 singles, 1 double......Castillo = 110 pitches, 8 innings, 7 k's, 3 singles, 2 walks.
The scoreless tie was finally broken by a Seattle bases loaded single in the bottom of the 13th , at about 1:18am CST. I was tired, but I figured I wouldn't be able to sleep if I didn't know the result.
Seattle won 1-0, and the Yankees and the Astros are now both 71-40 .
The Astros won the Silver Boot this year, and this makes it six in a row, with a 7-3 win over the Texas Rangers at Minute Maid.
Now, some real business ahead as the 'Stros need to right their ship against Oakland starting tomorrow. They're just 6-6 against the A's. Time to turn it around. There's no business for Houston losing to cellar-dwellers. No excuses.
They also need to find some more playing time for Trey Mancini and Christian Vazquez.

And, since the Yankees were idle, the Astros are alone with the best record in the American League.
The 'Stros Train just left the Chicago station having completed a split with the White Sox, ending with Houston's 21-5 shellacking of the South Siders. Now, it's on to Hotlanta for three against the Braves.

Yeah, wasn’t that something.
I was following it pitch by pitch on ESPN.com’s palsy by play until it was 10-0, and then I did something else for a couple of hours. NAfter that, I got in my car and turned on my iPad to check the final score…21-5 .
After that I did screenshots of the play by play expanded out to each pitch, just to memorialize it.
