Funny how Wade's remarks remain in people's minds, but the fact that most of great American players often declined to play in the Olympics didn't have the same effect. Wade had only the gut to say out loud how most of American Basketball players feel.
Do I agree? Nope. Do I like it? Nope. But that's the American way, guys, not Wade's way. He just wasn't a hypocrite about it.
I am Italian, and well, also American now after so many years living here. In Itakly and in general in Europe playing for your national team is a honor, be it soccer/football or basketball or volleyball.
Here in the US it's never been like that, money is still the main factor in too many things. I don't like it, but that's the way it is. But I also don't like that people are targeting wade for his comments when that's the way many NBA players feel and he only had to guts to say out loud.
And I am sure that if Wade were a Bull or Piston, it would not have caused so many "righteous" reactions.
Anyway, it is what it is. I just say my 2 cents opinion, it doesn't bother me much to see negative comments on the Heat, you should see what they say in the ESPN forums..
It's funny because now it's not just the team, even the Heat fans are called "bandwagon" fans, as many outside of Miami think we root for the Heat because of Lebron.
But that's not the truth: truth is most of us are the same fans who spent years of frustration watching the Heat's shortcomings in the past when Zo, Hardaway, PJ Brown, Mashburn and other were part of the team. it's great to fianlly have a good team and be able to hope in a title.
And all the hate around the Heat is not really a bad thing: it will make it sweeter if we get the ring.
ESPN forums? I hope you don't try to talk sense into some of those people, unless you are a glutton for punishment. Some serious morons on that website.
I watch a ton of NBA, and I think Wade is the single biggest flopper in the NBA. I get that doesn't bother everybody, but it drives me insane. Aside from that he bad mouthed the city of Chicago, his hometown, which rubbed us here the wrong way. Sure the olympic thing bothers me as well, and the fact he backtracked on his statement shows me he realized it was a dumb thing to say. Lastly, they knocked the Bulls out of the playoffs last year. All of that = my dislike for Wade.
I feel sorry for all the people who have no idea of who wade (or even LBJ) is and just love to hate.
That said, the first serious test for the Heat this iyear is in the Finals. Whoever wins the West will be very tough to beat, but the East looks empty
That's because the Bulls got riddled with injuries which gave them a cake-walk to the finals. Bulls are definitely tougher this year when healthy....not saying they'd beat the Heat but they closed the gap from last year IMO.
Bulls are younger and deep and improving....better win as many championships as you can before they catch up.

^^^^And I had a HUGE ammount of respect for Wade prior to this. He has gone from one of my favs to "meh" and it's his own doing.
I like Lebron allright, many big time players are aholes IRL....Jordan sure was.
So don't think I'm biased, I can absolutely separate a guys game from his personality....Wade is still a beast.
Bulls tried to tough it out without their MVP and first team defensive player and fell short. Not a shock, even if they managed to make the next round.
Oh well. I cannot even muster any outrage or upset about it, was gonna happen.

Bulls had 2 games WON in Philly, Game 3 and Game 6 and blew both leads late which falls directly on the coach. It makes no sense that they lost this series because the Sixers are not a good team at all. I mean the fact that they could have still lost to the Bulls without Rose and Noah lets you know they may get swept next round. And the sad thing is they probably don't care because they exceeded expectations.

Anybody watching the Lakers/Nuggets game?
Only Kobe would shake his head at the refs after being called for a flagrant foul 1. The replay shows Kobe Bryant swinging his arm and bashing Faried in the side of the head. Only Kobe would whine to the refs about that.
