Ok I will clear the air here and just say that if you're black, stay away from Boston.. Signed, someone who prefers his own race. Forced integration hasn't worked, its an ultimate failure. Look back to forced bussing if you need any references.

BTW Marky Mark used blacks initially to get where he is and he has a past of being racist.

Yes, go to the southern parts of the country where there's NEVER been any recorded instances of racism or violence and killings due to racism. Should move to Garfield Park area of Chicago or anything before 6 Mile Road in Detroit. No racial tension there, and you should be safe.

I understand why you're saying this because we haven't really seen too many blockbuster movies along these lines. But as a half-black person who was a bit of a movie buff, I can actually hip you to some of these movies that might have flown under the radar:

Blue Hill Avenue (2001): Blue Hill Avenue (2001) - IMDb
The Inkwell (1994): The Inkwell (1994) - IMDb
Squeeze (1997): Squeeze (1997) - IMDb
Glory (1989): Glory (1989) - IMDb
Proud Mary (2018): Proud Mary (2018) - IMDb
Malcolm X (1992): Malcolm X (1992) - IMDb
Soul Man (1986): Soul Man (1986) - IMDb
Central Intelligence (2016): Central Intelligence (2016) - IMDb
Osmosis Jones (2001): Osmosis Jones (2001) - IMDb
What's The Worst That Could Happen? (2000): What's the Worst That Could Happen? (2001) - IMDb
Amistad (1997): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118607/
Black & White And Red All Over (1997): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118729/

Honorable mention:

Detroit (2017): Detroit (2017) - IMDb

Is set in Detroit obviously, but was actually filmed in Boston.

Also if you're talking about the 80's what team wouldn't have wanted to have Larry Bird or Kevin McHale? They were all time players.

+1 equilizer.
actually proud mary and equilizer confused me because they are hollywood blockbusters but they negate the hollywood stereotype of boston being full of only irish mobsters and crooked cops ?

Not a movie, but Hawk in Spenser for Hire had to be one of the coolest characters at the time.

Many of the movies about people in Boston have been about Irish people because at this point Irish people are a big part of Boston history i guess. I mean ask Martin Scorcese if he plans to ever do a movie about black/cape verde gangs. Perhaps one day someone will. But right now these old irish gangs get a lot of notoriety and people clearly want to hear these stories. That doesnt make boston racist folks.

The black population in Suffolk County leaped from 21.6% in 2010 to 25% in 2016. That is a massive jump. Any one know the reason for this? Immigrants from Africa & Caribbean?

Meanwhile in that time period the Non-hispanic white population shrunk from 48.1% to 45.8% (as it is doing everywhere in America). Hispanics rose from 19.9% to 22.5% and Asians from 8.2% to 8.9%.

A lot of people that have never been to the Boston area have this totally outdated misconception from the media, hollywood or whatever that Boston is this preppy white or Irish-American city. Hasn't been that for a loooooong time. It's becoming a black/hispanic city (57.5%) very quickly.
