See, for me, all of my friends who want to go into film or music moved to Austin (or Denton for music).

A lot of those states are Mid-South...but IMO it does have influence over TN, the Carolinas, northern FL, AL and MS.
For starters, Atlanta is a MAJOR transportation hub and distribution center for the region and is at the confluence of three major interstates.

I believe within the black community; Atlanta holds some type of influence.

Wrong. Atlanta has HUGE influence on Florida. You have no idea.

Atlanta also has a big influence on LA, with just the Federal Reserve alone. Monetary policy and supply for LA & FL is controlled out of Atlanta. Not exactly an area of little influence.

Not to mention Atlanta's role as a oil and natural gas distribution center for the region. Where do people in Houston and New Orleans think it goes once it leaves the refinery?

I guess I should of been specific.

Let me rephrase that to social/cultural influence then, since I thought what the current conversation was about. Other than mainstream or what ways do Atlanta socially influence FL south of Jacksonville, Louisiana, or Texas?
Eastern TN may be more influenced by Atlanta, but West TN is influenced more so my Memphis which heavily influences North Mississippi and Eastern Arkansas.
South and West Mississippi is more influenced by Texas and Louisiana. The portions closer to Alabama are influenced by Atlanta.

How about we just divy it up between Atlanta and the Texas cities for influence? Atlanta gets Florida, Bama, the cackalackas, and eastern Tenn, while Houston and Dallas gets Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Western Tenn? Sound fair? lol

No, not really. at least not in Texas. It was either Houston or head west to LA.
