I seriously doubt that, but I havent heard anything this year so I could be wrong. I do know that Cleveland nearly doubled columbus last year in homicides so thats a fair reason to doubt that number. Cleveland is around 49 now, Cincinnati I think 22, Columbus....I would guess maybe 30. But you could be right about that number 45.

It honestly would not suprise me. Do not let the fact that a city is growing and progressing hide the bad facts. Columbus could have 45 no doubt in my mind.
Just look at Tampa, Charlotte, Atlanta and Phoenix.

I personally am not sure about the number of homicides in Cleveland but I know it is no where as bad as last
Around this time there was over 70 something
I know the numbers are still bad but its getting better despite mayor jackson firing more cops

When did Mayor Jackson fire any cops? He has been hiring more and more cops. Did you just make that up. He has reorganized and gotten rid of layers of management, but cops on the street has been a major priority of his. Also he has been letting the cops do their job not tying their hands behind p.c. b.s. I think some of the policies he has put into effect have actually been helping.

Well, I just checked the website and it said Columbus only had 5 murders in the last 30 days. Also last year(2007) Cleveland had 135 murders...and what did Columbus have? I think it was like 72 or somewhere around there, so yeah nowhere even close. Thats actually like...60 some more than Columbus.
If Columbus has 45 or more it wouldnt surprise me though, it has nearly 300 thousand more people than Cleveland and its nearly 3 times the land area. I do know that Cleveland is around 49 right now, and by this time last year there was 60, so we are doing better but not by a whole lot, the other crimes havent changed much, some have even went up.

The problem is you can't compare Columbus and Cleveland in terms of per capita murders. If this was the case you would have to include all of the suburbs and exurbs into the population of Cleveland, which would bring down the number of per capita murders. Cleveland and Columbus have completely different city boundary setups. On the other hand though the city central still has a significant amount more murders than Columbus's city central.
