A "Muslim preacher"? An "Imam" perhaps? Who ever said that Arabs are necessarily some race other than white? Sounds like you're a white girl marrying a white guy of Lebanese heritage to me. I guess I could be wrong...

I'm of Lebanese descent, and I have a Muslim father, and everyone I've met has considered me White by every definition of the word. Racially, we are White, as much as any WASP or Italian or Russian.

Unless these guys are really, really, really conservative, I doubt they've been arranged as I have never heard of an arranged marriage in Lebanon. Lebanon is too liberal for this stuff to still be going on, unless he's from some small isolated village.

I've seen hotter women in smaller bikinis on the beach in Lebanon than anything I've seen around MI. Lebanon is not Saudi Arabia you know!

Well, the westside could use some attention, (it's just a mess). The city has just let it go it seems. My father was very angry with the lack of maintenance so that's why we moved. P

Yea Garden City's alright. I think it's how my neighborhood used to look like prior to the riots in 67 and the Devil's night fires (that's what really did Joy and Southfield in). What I think is interesting is that GC and Plymouth are very heavy majority white but there's not much racial tension if I were to say be out w/ several other black friends of mine. In Detroit, although it is about 80% black, most of the whites who still do live there are the whites who a guy like me would avoid. I once had the cops called on me because I walked in front of some white guys house and he said I trampled his flowerbed. LOL I guess in that hood, some consider the weeds in the sidewalk cracks to be a flowerbed.

I have a friend that lives in Detroit around Warren Ave and Southfield Fwy, not too far from Dearborn, Dearborn Heights....and it's pretty eye opening. He is literally one of two white people in the neighborhood, and he's had his share of attempted break-ins, drug deals down the street, and homeless people on the corner. It's really a shame since not that long ago that part of Detroit was still decent.
I agree that Garden City has a heavy white majority and low racial tensions. Westland is similar, although their black population is a little higher (around 20% I think). To me it's just a really friendly area.

Just out of curiosity, is his last name Lisbinski? I know that family, they lived there as recently as 4 years ago. They went to my church (St. Valentines Catholic). I wonder if they were still around there, very nice people.

My cousins go to St. Val's though.
Can I ask whereabouts in Garden City you are?

From the pictures I`ve seen the city airport area seems the worst. But alot of the city looks bad.
