When in fact, most of the people who would take advantage of healthcare and increased access to school loans are white. Most people on food stamps and public assistance are white and a vast majority are in red states.

Paul Ryan claiming that his ticket lost because of the "urban" turnout that they didn't expect (read lazy).

Attempting to make voting difficult in Florida but shortening early voting minorities generally take advantage of forcing 8 hour waits. All the other voter supression tecqniques focused solely at minorities. It's only from republicans toward minority communities.

John McCain stands up, without facts and implies that a black female Rhode Scholar isn't smart after he selected Palin. Not that she was wrong or had bad intelligence but that she wasn't smart. McCain in the 4 years since the Palin debacle has not said a word about Palin being an idiot as every other person in his campaign has said. But amazingly, one comment into Susan Rice's overt public career he makes this statement.

The Republican Party Chair in Maine who claimed too many black people came to vote and made remarks about knowing all the black people in the town because he plays basketball with them.

These are just a few of the recent racially motivated things that have occured. Most minoritiy adults can identify pretty easily a closet racist. These are republican party leaders to include it's most recent standard bearer. I shouldn't even have to mention talking heads like Rush or the ignorant tea-partiers who are just being lead by the talking heads. I'm talking about republican leadership.

The problem as most are beginning to realize is because republicans sequester themselves in a bubble of foxnews spin, drudge report nonsense and consevative radio blather.

- Same reason a lot of white conservative leaning voters didn't vote for Romney, he's a Mormon. According to the Book of Mormon, black people are a cursed people and inferior to whites. This message was relayed in a lot of black churches.

- Black people are used to being demonized by Republicans. The GOP tries to keep it under wraps now it was only the 90s when politicians like Strom Thurmond and Jesse Helms were still around, running racist ads saying black people are gonna steal your job.

- Republicans ran on making lifes miserable for illegal immigrants so they self deport. Most Latinos have at least a few illegal immigrants in their family and don't enjoy being demonized and having their families broken up and used to score political points.

Oh, and yes, the voter suppression, based on the delusion of "voter fraud". That one ought to turn *everyone* against the GOP, not just black and Latino voters.

Look, man, thanks for the offer, but way too many of the people in your party have lost their minds lately.

2. Show some common sense. You lost two easy Senate races this cycle because candidates were stupid enough to justify rape. While we're on the topic, women are more than just incubators for your babies. Please show them some respect. Women vote, fetuses do not.

3. Actions speak louder than words. Do not expect us to vote for you after you propose or pass legislation that makes it harder for us to vote, denies freedoms you take for granted (ie, marriage), or severely restricts a person's rights to their own body (abortion).

4. Drop the "let them eat cake" attitude. The message that the rich have less responsibility than you for common good, and you should be grateful to them that they give you a job, is insulting. This country has too many working poor who are one paycheck away from homelessness. Don't diminish their hard work; a person's value is more than their net worth.

5. We have memories that are longer than the news cycle. For example, railing against illegal immigration in Arizona, then next week in Florida pretend you didn't make those comments. Youtube and Tivo never forget.
All so well said and yes I'm a multiple minority, single 62 year old female of mixed American Indian heritage.

Personally, I think the GOP has gone off it's rocker, I'm not christian nor was I raised christian, I'm sick to death of the GOP RWNJ's trashing the rest of us who believe differently. I believe in the right to choose, don't want an abortion don't get one, my healthcare choices should be between me and my doctor. I felt womans healtcare was on the line...the constant lies about "free birthcontrol" there was never any free anything. Woman just like men PAY their healthcare premiums and yes, our annual physicals and persciptions are included...just like guys annual physicals and prescriptions. It's been this way for decades and now all of a sudden the RWNJ's are not having it.

As I close in on 65, all I hear is the GOP trashing SS and Medicare, something we've paid into for ALL of our working life. Their ideas of "vouchers" to pay for HC ...right and who's going to insure us at a reasonable cost...NO ONE. Privatizing SS and Medicare is a path destruction...who would be investing those dollars...the fools on wallstreet and the big banks who brought this country to it's knees...their response would be OPPS...too bad I got mine so ********* as always.

The vitrolic hate coming from the GOP is astounding, they have partnered with so many fringe groups they are no longer recognizable. Barry Goldwater is rolling over in his grave at where the party has gone. Not too long ago I used to vote across party lines, but no more. I consider myself socially liberal but a conservative when it comes to finance. Since Obama took office there has been nothing but veiled bigotry and racisim hatred spewed forth against so many groups of people. This country was brought to it's knees yet the GOP leaders had said from day one they would fight Obama even to the detrement to the recovery of this country. I took the time to read the WHOLE GOP platform and found it not anywhere near my beliefs and it would certainly take more than one election cycle if ever to cast a vote for a GOP candidate on any level ever again.

Catholics overall voted for Obama, 50% to 48%; they also voted for him in 2008. The only major religious groups that voted for the GOP this election were Protestants and Mormons. Historically Catholics have voted for Democrats with some exceptions.

the freebies crap gets annoying, especially when white republicans specifically use it on non whites, when many many whites are also getting "freebies.""

the one that gets me going the most is when republicans say that minorities who vote dem are on the plantation, and dont know know any better.

the same whites that say that will vote top down republican for years, isnt that being on the plantation to?

more minority outreach, less southern white male country club mentality.

quit hanging with the tea party idiots and leave social policy out of the platform.

The DEMS say they are the party of the "big tent"! The GOP must be the party of the "big tent lunatics"!

I also voted democratic because I got tired of all the negative verbiage coming from the GOP. I conservative had/have friends who knew I was leaning toward Obama and I was amazed at the treatment I got from people who were telling I was voting for the demise of America and much worse. I just got tired of it. And I agree with an earlier post that there was a lot of racist "code" speak. It was disgusting. I never felt that when I voted GOP.

So call me whatever you want for my thoughts but I can tell you I'm not the only person who voted for Obama partially because the GOP came across as close minded, racist, people from the 1950's.

So what can you do earn BACK my vote? Realize that not all minorities are poor deadbeats. Learn that if you think outside the box you might get some of those 47% that you otherwise ignore. Be more compassionate about America and the world. I just got this feeling that conservatives are very unforgiving elitists and I prayed to God I wasn't that way when I believed in what the GOP stood for. The past 4 years thought me a lot about my country, and myself.
You did vote for the demise of America. The recovery is no recovery but one engineered to look like one during the election. The wheels will begin to fall off in the Dec UE report when the "revisions" and "sandy" will be blamed for uptick.

The GOP doesn't need your vote go vote for the nice socialists if you're little feelings were hurt, who cares?

The Asians will shift once they find out the Dems want to give out college slots to unqualified Blacks and Brown. Jews are an interesting group wealthy but traditionally socially liberal. Romney actually improved his
performance among them and I suspect after Obama juices up the class wars more will come over.

The Dems can have the remaining misfits on your list.

Some of you are fairly conservative. For those of you who have the idea that the Republican Party is a racist party, I would like to know why. While I understand there are some Republican voters who are racist and some conservative talk show personalities and the like, I fail to see how Republican politicians/candidates are racist. Even if there are a few isolated cases, I fail to see how the party platform or how the majority or even any minority other than perhaps a very small fringe of Republican politicians/candidates are racist.

I am starting this thread with the very best of intentions. I have been called racist on this forum and I don't understand why. Just because I'm a Republican?!? I have black and Hispanic friends (I'm not just saying that; I just had drinks with a black friend the other day). I have always worked with blacks and Hispanics and have always seen them as the same as everyone else. I am not trying to start any kind of conflict. I am simply trying to start a discussion. I do hope we can welcome more of you in to our party. Yes, we need your votes, but even if we could win with zero minority votes I wouldn't want the GOP to win in that case or even with 20% of minority votes. Does a large group of minority voters fear the Republican Party? If so, why? And what can be done to change this?
There really isn't much the GOP can do. As a Black person most are raised left of center. I came to conservatism on my own as I became more educated about American history and economics. Left of center politics is de jure in Latin America, Africa and Black America so short of the GOP becoming the 2nd liberal party there will be little hope of converts.

The Dem party is for folks who have grievances, little confidence in their abilities and look to others to care for them. It's a party built on glorified theft.

The GOP at best can improve maybe 10-15 PTs with Hispanics over time since they intermarry a lot with Whites. Blacks are a lost cause the vast majority cannot compete in a free market system so a party preaching self reliance will never fly. Wouldn't waste much time with us but keep the language civil maybe make token forays into the hood.

The GOP should concentrate efforts among Asians in Northern Virginia, PA, NV (Romney actually tied among them here), and California.

Just like Romney was going to win in a landslide.

Your predictions are about as reliable as the Chicago Cubs.

Aside from that, I dont recall him putting forth his plans for education in this country.

- As for Asians, the reason should be obvious to conservatives yet isn't. They always patronizingly say "but they're the good minorities, why don't they vote Republican" but the Christian right terrifies non-Christian people, who make up well over a majority of Asians. Remember the only primarily Christian Asian group is Philipinos, most others are nonreligious, Hindu, Muslim or Buddhist.
That is pretty much spot on. The fact that much of the GOP has an insistence on declaring America a "Christian Nation" in the sense that Christianity should dictate policies, and the fact that the central reasons behind many of their social positions is "because the bible says so" or "X is a sin" is not a recipe to win over non-Christians generally.
