last night I added a sauted onion and mushrooms to the sauce left over from the swiss steak and served it over white rice
broccoli with cheese sauce
winter salad of romaine, apple and pear with glazed walnuts, avocado slices and homemade blue cheese dressing
We are having grilled chicken/garlic brats and cold slaw. I will do a potato or something for spoiled brat. today is our whiney bridge luncheon, so we will be eating good food, drinking a bit of wine and playing cards. The last thing I will need is a huge dinner.
Tonight is my DP's birthday.....we were going to go out.....but since we will do that a lot over Christmas week...he asked if I would cook a steak dinner....I have some beautiful NY strips ....and will go shopping later for a cake! He likes rice as much as anything and I can do a green salad with cukes and tomato and onions.

In the meantime I have a pot of beef and barley soup going .... using up the left overs from last nights swiss steak.
Everybody flew out of the cuckoo's nest today and I have to fend for myself. For starters no cooking today, just explore my fridge and eat what is eatable. Anyone care to have me for dinner tonight? I'll do the dishes and bring a platter of German Christmas cookies
