We are going to have either Italian sausage, brown rice, and salad...
OR oyster stew---VOTE NOW!
Oyster stew. We had Italian sausage last night. It was good but no oyster stew!
Dreary day. We seem to be having a lot of them this December. I am going to make a long simmered meat sauce, gravy if you prefer. I will serve with rigatoni and the ubiquitous (at least in our house) crusty bread. Maybe I will make a garden salad too, not sure yet.
I am making daal (lentil) paratha serving with homemade plain yogurt, lemon and lime pickle,a plate with sliced onions, tomatoes, cucumber, white turnip.red beets, carrots and lassi or water to drink. For dessert either 1/2 a pink grapefruit or a clementine. Later a cup of Darjeeling tea.
Old fashion Swiss Steak.....its in the oven now on 200 degrees to cook until about 7:30 or 8 PM. It will probably be served with rice.
(I haven't had this for years.....but yesterday while shopping I saw some nice cuts of bottom round .... that were labeled "for swiss steak". I am so suggestible....that I made up my mind then and there that was what I was going to cook for supper tonight.
Swiss steak was my favorite cafeteria meal when I was in school. I graduated in 1962....and it may have been all that time since I had swiss steak!
Grilled steak, salad and either cous cous, rice or maybe just a green veggie. It is getting so hard to find fresh veggies this time of the year, but I don't like to have carbs every night for dinner and we have to have more than just meat and salad.
Pasta prima vera...from my summer garden: tomatoes, zucchini, sauteed together with red onion, thin sliced carrots, in evoo, crushed garlic cloves, crushed black, green & red peppercorns, fresh grated parmesan, over whole wheat linguini (I am a convert, it fills you up!), with this white wine infused with a little orange, from World Market, in front of fireplace. Yum...and, zzzzz!
