1. Cuba in general had a huge level of immigration from Spain in the late 19th and early 20th century. Cuba was only listed at 41.5% white in the 1841 census, but was 67.9% white by the 1899 census. As a result, Cubans tend to vary much more dramatically in terms of how white/black they look compared to Puerto Ricans or Dominicans, where more people appear mixed.
No disagreement there.

2. The other aspect is the majority of Cuba's 19th century immigration was from Asturias and Galicia, which are in the north of Spain. People there tend to be a bit lighter, and both blond hair and blue eyes are not unknown.
I know that Spaniards with lighter features exist. I was simply saying that it's not as common as say, Sweden. It doesn't matter though because I don't think anyone can deny that Spaniards mostly look Mediterranean and not Nordic, even if a few Nordic Spaniards exist. Kind of how the Black Irish exist but most people don't equate the Irish with being necessarily dark.
Here are pics of some Gallegos. I know that Galicia is used to exemplify the lightness of Spaniards, but these guys would still fit in other parts of Spain without trying hard. Notice their very Mediterranean features. Notice that even though people with lighter features are present, they are still the minority.

He used to wear cornrows, but it's pretty clear he had mostly straight hair if you look at him closely.
Yes I am fully aware that his hair is straight. Not that that means anything, considering White people can have hair of all types.
This picture makes him look "less White". Again, notice I am not disagreeing with you that he is White, but that in some ways he can look a bit ambiguous if he does have hair.
I'm guessing he's a little mixed, but not enough that it can really be seen.
Mixed? Mixed with what? Just because he's a rapper doesn't mean he's got any black in him. First I've ever heard of anyone suggesting that Pitbull is something other than white.

Nobody is saying that he's mixed because he's a rapper. There's a probability he's mixed because he's from Cuba. Though I agree it's probably negligible. Unlike Rosie Perez who clearly is mixed.

All white Cubans have some black and Native American ancestry, unless all of their ancestors came from Spain in the late 19th or early 20th century. It's just not a lot.
Here's a chart showing admixture for Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico. Each line is a single person sampled. Blue is white, Green is black, and red is Native American.
You can see Cubans tend to be the whitest. Eyeballing it around half of the population is 75%+ European ancestry. But even "white" Cubans aren't completely "white" except in rare cases.
That is so true. What they themselves consider "looking white" isn't necessarily what everyone else would consider white. Often times, Hispanics with light hair & eyes actually have non-white facial features. And yes, I have sometimes heard Hispanic people say "My grandmother is from Spain". That seems to be the go-to phrase in an attempt to prove one's "whiteness".
Spaniards don't look very "white" to me. Many Roger Federer fans, for example, make it astoundingly clear that Rafael Nadal is a "sand monkey" after he beats Roger over and over and over and over and over again (European sport fans beez racist like that!).

That is a south Florida tan dude. I'm a rosy white guy with mostly German ancestry and my skin would look like that too if I spent an afternoon on south beach.

Do you have a link to that study. That sounds more like "white" Cubans on the island, not the ones here.
