for those who think illegals are a "top 3" national issue, hmmmm, i just don't see it. me not living in a border state has something to do with it i guess but yeesh.

if you think it's the #1 issue, then i really look forward to what you have to say.

it'd take a ton of convincing for me to consider it "top 5"
I think it is for a dozen reasons. Here's a few of the biggie reasons.
1. We want responsible citizens, not people breaking the law from day one. They're starting off on the wrong foot.
2. Illegals undermine good order and discipline & lower the standards for all.
3. The underground economy is the equivalent of importing slavery here
4. Social strife when have nots of various ethnicity compete for meager jobs whose wages get continuously driven down by those not obliged to uphold the community or defend this nation.
5. No state in this union should feel it's hands tied behind it's back over problems bigger than itself. That's the point of federal authority and this is an interjurisdictional issue neglected for decades. Not a few days, decades.
6. Because of their illegal status they're exploited by nefarious people who deserve being exported along with the illegals.
7. Crime perpetrated by illegals has no basis to be paid back, creating a drain on resources. I'm left wondering if American jails are condo resorts relative to their origins.
8. You're either here or not, paying into the system or not. No in between because the law should not protect those above the law.
9. Immigration overhaul is long over due and laws that aren't enforced are worthless laws. As far as I can tell we have no immigration law save for those who kill themselves trying to jump through outdated hoops at enormous expense with no guarantee of citizenship.
10. Selective attention laws are unjust.
11. The economic impact when unemployment is so high should be a no brainer.
12. The economic gains they reap are sent to another country, not circulated in our own economy. It's yet another open feast for an insane global trade imbalance bleeding us out for decades.

Because big corporations (shock of shock to some, I suppose), want "expansive immigration" so they can bring back pseduo slavery and subvert wage and working conditions laws, illegal immigration is suddenly "not a big deal"?

No. If business legitimately NEEDS workers because Americans cannot be found for same (my how things may have changed in the past couple of years, ya think?), there are ALREADY LAWS to allow for LEGAL immigration and TEMPORARY migrant work visas to fill that need.

You didn't address ANY of the reasons posited why illegal immigration should be a "top ten" concern for ANYBODY in America. You have merely presented reasons why business and the government that serves business looks the other way. Profits over people.

I don't see the feds jumping all over these issues you are so worked up about but I do see them avoiding it at all costs, even cutting border security despite all the crying. Things haven't changed in that respect with the government stance on immigration reform and what to do about illegal immigration since Bush. It's good business. Then>>>

They aren't going to arrest them and deport them all or throw them in AZ jails, it's just never going to happen. Eventually they will come up with a way to reform immigration, make it easier for non criminals to work here and become successful Americans and or open up and make it easier to get H-2 visas for working here. Maybe even open up the borders, an idea that was in the works and is on hold because of the fight on terrorism right now but will be back.

This will eventually happen after they get done passing the subject around like a hot potato. But, what you want will never, ever happen so why flog your dead horse!!! It's a waste of time.

Oh, and lobbyist, well here is a quote from the cis:
It would require an extensive effort to tally the expenditures on immigration. But it is safe to say that since 1998, tens of millions of dollars have been spent on immigration lobbying. And it is clear that the vast majority of those dollars have been spent by those who want expansive immigration policies.

Here are just a few of the big spenders: The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Microsoft Corp, Western Growers Association,American Farm Bureau, American Meat Institute, National Immigration Forum, National Association of Home Builders, National Association of Manufacturers, National Chicken Council, Service Employees International Union, National Council of La Raza, United Farm Workers, Tides Advocacy Fund, Oracle Corp, Dairy Farmers of America, American Hotel & Lodging Assn., Smithfield Foods, American Nursery & Landscape Assn. Try boycotting all of them, you'll be hungry homeless and have no where to stay on vacation. lol

You might notice that these are the companies that would benefit from cheap labor, duh. This is America, a large Capitalist country, what on earth are you smoking?

Oh, and here in AZ Jan's bill is just a joke. It will do nothing but waste taxpayers money on lawsuits, it was just a political move and she knows it. She's smart and she won with it because we have a lot of "you" out here. But even we know it won't go anywhere. People that actually believe this is somewhere near happening. ha ha ha ha The joke is on you I guess.

I'm done, you win because you are a exhausting little thing. I wish you luck on your venture to rid the country of illegal immigration.

But a note to you about why some cannot care. I don't care about something that cannot possibly happen. Sort of the same way I stopped wishing religion would stay out of politics or stopped hoping for "health care for all" in this country. Sometimes you have to know when to hold them and know when to fold! It's NEVER going to happen.
And I reiterate you don't brake laws hoping that they will change in the future. The plight of black Americans has nothing to do with our right to enforce our immigration laws. Black Americans were citizens, illegals are not!

Everything else is just wishful thinking on your part and you fool no one by acting like you don't care about this issue. You wouldn't be posting in this forum if you didn't have some kind of personal stake in this issue. You are obviously and advocate for illegal aliens. Do you also have a defeatest attitude about the other pressing issues in this country that need addressing? Somehow I doubt it.

I guess you are in denial and sticking your head in the sand about the furor over illegal immigration that is building. Arizonas sb1070 was just for starters. There is legislation pending in many states to rid themselves of illegal aliens. There are proposals in congress to end birthright citizenship and benefits for illegal aliens and to implement e-verify in every workplace. If your side is winning then why has the Dream Act been voted down everytime? Why haven't these illegals been granted amnesty already? You are just desperately grasping at straws here with your wishful thinking rather than what reality is.

Do keep your reconquista dream alive though or whatever else your motivation is for wanting our country to be taken over by illegal aliens mostly from Mexico. Cause that's all it is a dream that will never come true.

It's just reality, nobody says it's right. If you don't want profits over people than move to a socialist country like France where people tear down walls when the government turns a blind eye to it's people. Here, you better start pandering to big business, ie, don't buy there crap, thats what does it here.

All of you who want it to change, want illegals to get thrown out still eat, sleep and breath the products those companies who hire them deliver. What motivation do they have to listen to you?

I sit in AZ watching all the people buy up the cheap houses they produce, munching down the produce they pick while at the same time, with a full mouth spew hatred for them here. They don't even have the intelligence to see that they are part of whats keeping them here and why the big companies will win this fight again and again. It gets tiring to watch.

No one disagrees that there are problems with them here, but none of you can see that these are not problems for big business, just for the small people of America. Capitalism just doesn't work that way. We are too large for Capitalism to not rear it's ugly bad side, this is one of those "bads" that come with the good.

It's too bad, but it is the reality of this country. You say no but your actions say yes, yes, yes.

Yea, as a matter of fact. I just had a dream last night that the illegal Mexicans took over AZ and all those awesome burrito shops came back. Everyone was happy. Ever since 1070 there is no good food here. It was sweet!

Do you not realize that blacks were not citizens when they came to our country, they were slaves, captives sold, with no rights as citizens.
Do you realize that they fought for their rights illegally, were thrown into jail repeatedly in order to draw attention and change the laws?
Did you have a history class in your school?

If you eat Tyson chicken, you are supporting illegals. Watch the documentary movie Food, Inc.

Being brought here against one's will is not the same as someone jumping our borders illegally. I don't advocate for either situation anyway. You are comparing apples to oranges here. Stop living in the past. It has no relevancy to today or our right to enforce our immigration laws today. When the Civil Rights Era happened blacks were indeed citizens at that time.
